If big stage shows is pop, then Tribe just stupid. Nothing bout Hammer music was POP. NOTHING
lmaooo... this is stupid breh. sorry

Look at this clip from the Godfather of Soul... The man who made Im black and Im proud.

Is he POP??

:hubie:
Listen, i dunno know where your from or your age/era you grew up in
BUT
where im from - hammer was NOT hip hop he was a pop star (and good for him)

:snoop:
by the amount of peeps capping for him only makes me believe yall were lil nikkaz back then
(cause like 95% of the industry never considered hammer & vanilla ice as hip hop of any sort ... as matter of fact we put them into that pop/R&B/dance movement like CC & the music factory ; Milli Vanilli etc... category)

:mindblown: i cant even believe im having this convo :mindblown:

i aint gots nothing against Hammer
he did what he did & was very sucessful at it
((BUT it just wasnt what we call hip hop))

im not understanding the hammer puff connection
when Hammer was rocking parachute pants with pennie lofters
Puff was turning R&B into HipHop / Soul - with putting Tims & baggy jeans on a quartet R&B group from NC and put nergo leage baseball jerseys & hats with spandex with knee pads on a sultry singer from Yonkers
No. I just have to remind you about the facts sometimes.

AND

Okay, why wouldnt we call it Hip Hop?

You dont have to understand it.

When Hammer was getting 30 million dollar advances, Puff was cleaning up Andre Harells office's at Uptown.

dawg, I never bought a Hammer record in my life.. but y'all just dont know what POP is. Y'all just dismiss anything thats not to your liking by adding the tags. If this was about Young MC or Tone Loc, I could probably understand.

Hammers peers hated that he won. point blank. all that he aint hip hop, he was a sellout wasnt factual.

Hammer never made a collab with anybody. Didnt need a pop star on the hook for a big record. But y'all say he pop?

Jay Z did a whole EP with Linkin Park. Songs with Chris Martin. Nobody calls him one in the hip hop world. Y'all choose who to put tags on and be just wrong

Hammer was drake before drake was around.

Without the singing.

He was a rapper that got super big and turned pop culture, people hated on him because he was popular and tried to keep a positive spin on everything, the ladies loved him and he would make simp tracks from time to time.

But Hammer was about the action from what I heard.

The fact that Hammer was poppin majorly while Puff was at Howard, and really been out since 86' independently, while puff was still in High School if you want to get technical.

The fact Hammer was already a millionaire while Puffy was a intern at Uptown Records.

"Cuz it wasnt", does not compute.

Why was it more pop/dance because of the tempo?

Or because Hammer was a dancer?

:snoop:

House music is dance music, Hammer just happen to make music you can dance to. Thats the only correlation, breh.

Hip Hop is more than boom bap beats and clever rhymes my dude.
