The fact that Hammer was poppin majorly while Puff was at Howard, and really been out since 86' independently, while puff was still in High School if you want to get technical.

The fact Hammer was already a millionaire while Puffy was a intern at Uptown Records.

"Cuz it wasnt", does not compute.

Why was it more pop/dance because of the tempo?

Or because Hammer was a dancer?

:snoop:

House music is dance music, Hammer just happen to make music you can dance to. Thats the only correlation, breh.

Hip Hop is more than boom bap beats and clever rhymes my dude.

:what:

why do you keep bringing up puff ?
hammer is like 7 to 8 years older - the only comparison is both got a bag on tens of millions to start up
one of them became the most successful in modern day urban industry & the other; well.... no need to go there

and it was pop/dance cause it was pop/dance
there is no difference between hammer music & the music vid below (shyt was in heavy rotation among pop radio)

why you keep bringing up C&C?.. You made no valid points in this thread. Just say you hate Hammer and move on dawg. Weak ass arguments in here about black music being pop cuz you can dance to it. Just stfu

cause C&C and hammer made the same type of music

and all my points are valid - the fact you still refuse to state your age & location from that era ONLY leads me to believe you just don't understand what hip hop is

these were the songs that were played aside with hammer - typical pop station rotation

ain't no hate
dude just wasn't Hip-Hop
it is what it is

Isnt he the reason why you quoted me?

You keep coming up with excuses and weak reasoning.

I stated Puffy got his steez from the West. I was trolling obviously, yet still holds some truth.

Which is why NOBODY else is debating EXCEPT you.

You start with Puff was in the industry longer than Hammer. WRONG!

BUT

Hammer made it possible for people like Puff to do what he does by showing RAPPERS CAN BE MEGA STARS.

All that other shyt you speaking on far as pop music and hip hop is drivel.

If you're in your 30s, chances are Hammer was your first fav rapper

I was 6-8 during his prime

Low key we were into Vanilla Ice too but that ended quick

Before we knew it though, that era faded

Then 92-93 hit, us 7 yr olds became 10 yr olds and the Chronic dropped and it was a WRAP
I can't even lie, my first favorite group was New Kids on the Block but MC Hammer came through and crushed the buildings. It was Hammer. Michael Jackson has probably been my goat since I was 4.

mc hammer was the biggest rapper ever.

definitely the goat rap entertainer.

shame how they defaced his legacy. part of that is his own fault tho.

he was actually bigger than Michael Jackson at the time.

sidenote: I wonder if that showtime special he had with james brown is on youtube somewhere.
Hammer the first and last rap entertainer

Hammer was huge everywhere except NY. Because they were just entering the Rakim days. So NY was entering another chamber.

he was huge but at the same time he was irrelevant when it come to hiphop discussion. he was more of pop than hiphop.

I wouldn't even compare him to Drake. He was closer to late 90s Will Smith, Flow Rida, and Black eyed Peas.
