Mississippi unemployment rate 5.5% - 4x less than Sicily - 22% poverty rate - 2x less than Sicily

Also, based on Investopedia, Italy is listed as 8th largest economy with $1.99 trillion GDP. That’s literally 10% of the US GDP of ($21.44T). So no, a random poor city in MS. AL or MI should not come close to resembling the Italian country, but in some parts of the US, it does.
