only good thing about this episode was man in black vs William
Pretty sure the human William is dead now, right?William took nothing but Ls this season.
He got his throat slit by a host of his likeness. That's poetic justice..Pretty sure the human William is dead now, right?
by the instructions of a Delores clone tooHe got his throat slit by a host of his likeness. That's poetic justice..
this ep (and this season) felt like two seasons smooshed together.
I'm just gonna claim the studio got Corona'ed and wasn't sure of the future, so they rushed it.
yeah.
Still waiting on the final verdictI'm giving the finale of this season the same luxury
Let me find the post where I talked about this before.this ep (and this season) felt like two seasons smooshed together.
I'm just gonna claim the studio got Corona'ed and wasn't sure of the future, so they rushed it.
yeah.
To me it feels like they moved the story too far ahead. It feels like this season should have started with Dolores finishing off Delos and the remnants of their plans to replace world leaders with hosts, which leads to her getting the attention of Serac and her finding out about Rehoboam, triggering the further events of this season.
It seems clear Delos will still play a big role this season and Serac most likely wants hosts replacing world leaders so he can steer the future even further. It's just that the jump from Dolores' original plans to this Serac/AI plot is so far removed from where we left off last season that it doesn't quite feel right.
I'm ready to call WW a one season wonder. But I'll wait til we're half way through this season before I'll push that button.
I liked the finale, but it wasn't enough to prop up a season that was trying to do a lot but apparently forgot it had an audience to entertain. I was really into the themes this season wanted to tackle: determinism, how the hosts have more free will than humans, the effects of exposing our lack of free will, etc. This show had to go somewhere beyond a theme park to fukk and kill robots. I was fully on board for the direction they decided to go, post-Westworld. No amount of fandom can make me say they executed this correctly. My fandom will allow me to say I think the failure in execution was trying to please everyone who had an issue with the last season, therefore ending up with this season meandering all over the place. It's a hiccup for a show HBO clearly isn't giving up on. But it's also a show that's expensive as fukk to produce and is seeing dwindling viewership. I am intrigued by where the story is/can go, and have faith they can recapture the magic of the first two seasonsStill waiting on the final verdict
