Based on Laurie's joke, all of the her group are in “prison” . Veidt isn’t on Mars but a jail he made himself to test himself for some reason. Manhattan is in his own exile. Nite-Owl chose prison. So she’s going to be the only one to outsmart her judgment?
And that casual mention of Russia making Manhattan’s device like a new space race.

I think it’s a bit more nihilistic than good or bad.
it’s not that she was behind them. But that she wasn’t recognized as a hero. No gifts, no choice.
So the police thinking running around in mask makes them heroes with gifts doing good will still bring them their own prison.
Breaking the idea of mask in general. Criminals in mask or police or vigilante.
