*scans internet. Sees tom hardy cast as venom*
Mother fukkers got my money for a venom movie.
When we initially learned that Primetime Emmy-winner Riz Ahmed (The Night Of) had been cast in Sony Pictures' Venom, many were quick to presume that he had been cast as Cletus Kasady, a.k.a. Carnage, but follow-up reports quickly debunked those rumors and instead offered up The Chameleonas his potential character. There was even buzz that his mystery character would also appear in 2019's Silver and Black.
However, thanks to a new set photo from Atlanta Filming, we've learned that he's playing neither of the above and he actually could still appear in Silver and Black. According to their sources, he's playing a character named "Dr. Drake" as in Dr. Carlton Drake, the Leader of the Life Foundation, who in the "Lethal Protector" story arc is responsible for forcibly extracting five seeds from the Venom symbiote, who later become known as Agony, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Scream.
The five symbiote offspring - and their older brother Carnage - have all been heavily rumored to be the primary antagonists in the upcoming Ruben Fleischer-directed spinoff, so Ahmed as Drake does line up with everything else we've heard about the highly-anticipated film so far.

We've seen quite a few behind-the-scenes snaps already, but our first official glimpse of Sony's Venom movie should be online at some point this week.
IGN will be debuting several first-looks at some of 2018's biggest releases over the next few weeks, and they've confirmed that the Spider-Man spin-off will be first out of the gate. Whether that'll be a poster, a look at Tom Hardy in costume or something else entirely remains to be seen, but it definitely seems a bit early for a trailer.
Then again, you never know - a brief teaser probably isn't out of the question.
Keep an eye out, and we'll update if we find out any more details in the buildup to the reveal. Venom is set to hit theaters this October.
