They messed up royally by keeping it PG-13. While Venom has some corny moments in the comics, he also eats/murder's people Hardy was a solid pick, the move just has the oddest pacing. It needed to be darker.This isn't a superhero film, its a anti-hero film.It should've been Kick-Ass 1, instead it was X-Men 2....way too corny for its own good.
