NCAA, it's supposed to come down this month right?

they dropped the academic fraud part. they now admit that those classes were legit. they're trying to hammer us for giving athletes preferred access to them (which happens at every school for every sport. even my ex who was a diver at an acc school got preferential class access). the acc legal counsel said we were ok with how we offered those classes. sankey and the ncaa are dying to get us so they'll probably drop the hammer and we'll appeal and eventually win in court.

UNC receives commitment from 2019 point guard
Jeremiah Francis, a top point guard prospect in the class of 2019, has committed to North Carolina. Francis on Friday announced his commitment in a post on Twitter.

Francis is a 6-3, 190-pound rising junior at Pickerton Central High in Pickerton, Ohio. He is the No. 61 overall prospect in his class, according to 247Sports.com, and nationally he’s among the top 10 point guard prospects in his class.

Francis is UNC’s first commitment from the class of 2019. He has committed to UNC over scholarship offers from Ohio State, Indiana and Florida State, among others, according to 247Sports.com.

He said Roy compared him to Ty Lawson. I don't see it...not from that video anyway. Reminds me more of Joel or a slower Ray Felton than anything.

He'll play in a Final Four or two

he's good friends with the #1 overall guy in 2019 who we just offered. said he's gonna be recruiting him hard

this kid is a perfect unc guy. his toughness and leadership is joel berry esque and he's just gonna get better. give me another joel with guys like leaky and coby + the three young bigs and we'll be competing for titles for a while. roy is hitting his stride

to go along with that: his hs teammate is one of the bigs coming in this year, which played a part in his decision.....

as for roy: i def agree.....he's always been a hell of a recruiter....just wait till this ncaa investigation bullshyt is over, people gonna be in trouble...cause not only will he still be getting solid classes from top to bottom, he'll be getting some of those high end players again, especially at wing which is a nc staple...

i dont think the ncaa shyt is why he's been struggling recently. unc just isnt cool anymore for these kids which is shocking to me. duke is somehow cool but unc isnt

shyttu has us in his top 5 but he says he wants to be one and done and referred to unc as a "developmental" school. i dont understand why that is a negative. look what roy did with guys like kennedy and isaiah and joel and brice and the list goes on and on. if you are good enough to be one and done, you will be no matter if you play at unc or play at a local community college. there just is this dumbass belief that unc wastes guys like justin and harrison and turn them into 2-3 year guys. justin improved every year he was there. no one made him come back twice. he knew he wanted to improve so he did. he woulda had a similar career arch at kentucky or duke (if not worse because he would be buried by a bunch of new recruits...enjoy that knox and washington). harrison was a weird guy in that he could have left after one year but wanted to come back and make a push with his friends for a title. how is that held against roy?

and then you have the apologists for the shyt k does with development. okafor is trash and not at all prepared for the nba. winslow and parker and tatum all would have been one and done at any school. how did he develop them? why is he not taken to task for guilt tripping grayson allen into staying four years? that kid was a first rounder after their title and now he will be lucky to get drafted. how about wasting top ten talent like bolden? wasting top 25 talent like chase jeter? why is he not dinged for shyt like that?

fukk it tbh. i would like the occasional one and done but watching guys like marcus and brice and joel and theo develop both on and off the court over four years is awesome and makes my attachment to the program that much stronger. maybe if we were struggling with this model i would feel differently but we get the privilege of watching a kennedy meeks or isaiah hicks grow from fat or just timid freshmen to awesome dudes and awesome players AND we are competing for titles. i will take that any day.

that's the thing: i dont think he's been struggling...roy has always been a hell of a recruiter...in fact, i think the ncaa investigation has made him even better because now his classes are solid from top to bottom, and not just top heavy like how they used to be....that's why i say when the investigation is over, he'll get the top guys again to go along with the solid classes...

also, unc will always be cool cause of 1 name alone: mj....

as for developmental being looked down on: the league and media is to blame for that...i say media cause even though roy is putting people in the league, it's not getting talked about like how calipari is putting a new 5 in every year, or k putting 3 new ones every year...i say the league cause they the ones that keep drafting off 'potential'...and as fukked up as it might be, the less they see of you, the better your chances are.....prime ex of that: the draft year of kwami brown & battier....

k been untouchable for a min now....

i agree....i'm not complaining about roy not getting 1 & dones.....he getting results which is better to me....was just saying i think his classes are gonna get even better when the ncaa is done...

...think unc will be cutting the nets down again within the next 5 years...i can live with that....

The academic stuff has certainly hurt Roy and UNC on the trail. Stackhouse had Brandon gift wrapped to us until the scandal kicked in.

Uncertainty, questions at UNC played ‘a big factor’ in Brandon Ingram turning down Tar Heels

Asked Monday if he would have committed to UNC had it not faced such uncertainty because of the NCAA investigation, Ingram said, “I think I would have.”

It's a lot of stuff that's taken place behind the scenes by other coaches, negatively recruiting against UNC. But Roy is so damn good at recruiting, that it can't really hurt us. Back to back Finals appearances and another ring. Wait until the country get a load of the likes of Felton, Coby, Leaky, Nassir Little, Wendell Moore, Josh Nickelberry, and Joey Baker at Chapel Hill the next few years. Sure we might not get the guys that stay for 6 months, but we'll be raising another banner soon cause Roy builds better teams than K and Cal. That used to be K's strong suit. Now that he went the AAU route, he's content with losing 10 games a year with the #1 recruiting class and a first weekend exit in March. Tyus and Okafor saved his cache, cause without that ring, I believe his switch to Cal's corner would be more scrutinized than it is.
