I'm a casual fan, I don't really follow mma like that but yes NCAA is USA Wrestling :blessed:

I've only been following it a bit more recently because a lot of mma fighters/wrestlers do their strength and conditioning at the gym I go to. It's connected to my son's wrestling school and a renzo gracie bjj so a lot of ufc/bellator guys come through.

Check out the main event, short and brutal. Well worth your time:

Gustafsson: Stepping on someone while he's down is 'screwed up'

Anthony Johnson reacts to Jon Jones' tweet to Alexander Gustafsson. He isn't a fan of stepping on people when they're down.

 TWEET (32) SHARE (149) PIN
Anthony Johnson secured the biggest win of his career, with an impressive first round finish at the main event of UFC on FOX 14. Right after victory though, Johnson had mixed emotions and felt bad after seeing his heartbroken opponent in Alexander Gustafsson react after the loss.

"Alex had a goal, and I felt really bad. I saw him crying, and I know how it is when you have a goal and something like this gets in the way," Johnson said about trying to console his opponent. "I guess I'm human. I just felt bad. He didn't reach his goal tonight, but I'm sure he will be back 10 times stronger on his next go around."

It was a stark contrast on how the UFC light heavyweight champ reacted after the fight. Shortly after Gustafsson's tough loss in his home country, Jon Jones sent out a tweet (which was deleted shortly after) to take a shot at his former rival.

While Anthony Johnson said that he has never had any personal problems with Jones, he made it clear that he isn't a fan of that statement, especially after such a devastating loss.

"This world is screwed up," Johnson said about Jones' tweet. "In my opinion, when somebody is down, people always wants to step on you and keep you down. No one really wants to help you up. That's why I think this world is screwed up."

"I don't know, man. Jon is who he is," he said. "He's got bigger things to worry about than Alex."

Johnson earned a UFC title shot with his efforts and says that when they face off in a few months, Jones will know that he is the "hardest puncher he's ever faced".

Much respect to humble Rumble :salute:

as far as being hit with big shots

all this talk about jones needing to be on the outside, the said the same thing about cormier, he needs to keep him on the outside, etc

jones always finishes his fights on the inside, he's more dangerous at close range because of his elbows and knees, he uses his outside attacks to gauge distance, but he always ends up fighting on the inside, and all his finishes are from the inside
I see Jones bulling Rumble in the clinch, especially if he can't outmuscle him.

Hes not bullying Rumble around. And did you watch this fight? You make Rumble chase you, not the other way around. Gus was attacking and still got steamrolled

Gus doesn't have nearly has many tools as jones, Gus thought he had this fight in the bag because he went the distance with jones
just like jones thought he had the shyt in the bag against Gus going in, only reason the fight with Gus was close its because he got rocked in the first round by that right hand and NEVER RECOVERED, he was fighting with cob webs the whole fight, and he still won. But he was never hit like that again the rest of the fight

Jones win his fight because of intelligence, rumble was power, but jones is good at body control especially in the clinch just listen to Cormier's post fight conference when he explains he controlled his hands

Jones is the best in fighter in the UFC, him trying to kick boxing rumble is not a good idea, trying to keep distance from rumble for 5 rounds is not a good strategy, because he has 5 rounds to land a big shot, when you disrupt his rhythm by smothering him and also preventing him

Jones is also good at slipping punches in the clinch, somebody he debut in the glover fight and continued in cormier, he knows how to take the steam of punches using his shoulders and he will more than likely improve on that

rumbles only chance is to hurt jones with a big shot and drop him

I see Jones bulling Rumble in the clinch.

He don't bully him, he just beats them up, he didn't bully cormier, he just beat him

he hurt him with a knee in the first round in the clinch, that cormier admitted took a lot out of him

jones knows how to slide in clinch and also knows how to apply wrist control to stifle his opponent

get that bullshyt outta here

Gus tweeted I am not impressed after the cormier fight, so jones had every right tweet what he said and should not have deleted that

Like Rumble said, you don't step on someone when they're down. Jones won that Cormier fight and Gus tweeted 'I'm not impressed'. Had Gus beat Rumble and Jones tweeted 'I'm not impressed', nobody would have an issue. Jones did the same thing when Phil lost to Rumble.

He outmuscled, outgrappled, and outstruck him in the clinch.

It's called hype. Phil Davis was and is currently doing the same thing.
