Stylistically, Jacare matches up better with Mousasi than Machida does.

Yea that was apparent last night but on paper it doesn't. Mous was suppose to have the better boxing/cardio in addition to improved TDD. I knew his footwork would have him in trouble, esp with that small cage. But he just got outworked in all aspect of the game. I am shocked he lost the striking battle.

The moment Mousasi gassed (pretty early in the fight too), it went really downhill. And he was tentative throughout the fight, never really let his hands go. The threat of takedown was one of the major reasons why Mousasi got out-struck.

i really dont understand what Mousasi's gameplan was. Did he really think he could win a 5 round fight with just a flick jab

He had nothing for Jacare. Jacares headmovement and striking has gone to another level which allows him to close the distance when his opponent decides to really engage and go for those takedowns, which are draining.

I thought he turned a corner with the TDD(He defended them well at first but he completely gave up later) when he was hitting switches on Munoz and getting into back mount with ease. But it just sucks he couldn't counter with anything significant other then that flick jab.
