By taking this way out, it’s clear neither side are interested in convicting Trump.

I don't believe polls after the election. Not calling witnesses that could pin the ReThugs in a corner is a mistake. Especially if sitting members were actively giving Intel on officials whereabouts and planning that went on.

Anyways, witness testimonies aren't going to change the outcome of the trial or significantly change public opinion.

This isn’t a criminal trial though and once the republicans said they had no interest in holding Trump accountable due to it being unconstitutional or supposedly because it makes people angry what do you want ? You think month long trials will accomplish what your saying? The best thing to do is be like ok then you agree that he shouldn’t serve in office and lose his perks then right ? So explain then if dems use the 14 th amendment to bar him why your voting against it ?
I get what your saying in principle but if the other side has zero interest in principle you still need to do the right thing and let them all answer for why someone they said caused a insurrection doesn’t deserve this trial
