I don't care how much better or worse Trump would have done, George W. Bush was a monster and a war criminal and destroyed the American economy TWICE. Only your dumbass, and the 10 people that dapped want to pretend that Bush wasn't that bad because of Trump. By pretending this monster wasn't that bad, you mollify the horror over time. The same thing could happen to Trump, especially if he faces no judgement in the future.
Bush was terrible.... but the thing with bush as shytty as this sounds; the average American 's direct life was rarely really impacted by his pure incompetence. Where as with trump we can go thru millions of items outside of the pandemic that has killed 500k+ Americans and lost millions of jobs. If trump had another 4 years .... man

My guess is they throw the Romney types/moderates in the bushes and go hard right to keep the other groups.

That type of group is least popular with Republicans so it would be more efficient to appeal to the rest of the base. After all Trump was more successful than Romney.

I agree that this would be the likelier outcome but you can see McConnell doing backflips behind the scenes trying to keep it all together. I think he believes the Old Republican party can be restored but it will take a little time, we will see what happens at the trial... if they all end up voting against conviction then you can see that they ran the calculations and they feel they have to ride it out with Trump now.

The thing is... there is ZERO evidence that shows these new GOP voters are going to show up for anyone other than Trump. Trump brought in a lot of new people who had never participated before from all the backwoods corners of rural America...

These people can easily go back home and say fukk it all... we are already seeing signs of that.

I think if the GOP continues going hard right it will be tough for them to win the general election. They can take back the house but at the Presidential level I don't see enough of an appetite for far right politics. Independents and moderates broke for Biden because Trump went too far right.

704. Formerly 212 and 843.
Fox has to also compete with OANN and Newsmax who loves throwing bat shyt nonsense. It's going to get really out of control.
Fox is getting rid of news content in favor opinion content. That's means more bat shyt content that's like their prime time lineup. It's looks like they fukk up Trump's attempt to prematurely call himself the winner they called Arizona for Biden before everyone else did. Newmax and OANN were telling their viewers before the election that Trump was going to win in landslide. I heard comments from right wingers that believe that Trump was going to win 47 states. If people like that have been fed that type of propaganda, it's easy for them to believe that the election was rigged.

The financial crisis hurt millions of people... That was a rough time for the average American. Remember all the foreclosures people out of work, failing businesses and the stock market crash??

It never really recovered either until Obama got in office.

That said, Trump had a financial crisis combined with a pandemic that he didn't take seriously and wanted to hide from so your point is not incorrect.. I just feel we need to remember that it was a shytty time... just that yes Trump is overall more dangerous to American soil.

Exactly. If these new Republican voters only seem to show up for Trump, then the GOP is going to do their best to find Trump v2.0.

From their perspective there's a better chance of them showing up for a Trump wannabe than for a moderate.

Storm Capitol Hill, insight violence, steal personal property from the House speaker, threaten to sell information to Russia and get house arrest brehs.

:scusthov: I figured the courts would give them a slap on the wrist as usual.

Funny that her ex contacted the FBI and ratted her out though.

1. I don't have to perceive anything about Bush era politics since we have the luxury of hindsight.
2. Everyone involved in the horrible politics of his administration is a white man, so how is pointing out the fact that everyone misses the architects of those bad politics some sort of example of white male privilege?

Condi and Powell say hello tho

They weren't? IDK how old you are, but I didn't grow up with TSA checkpoints at the airport. In fact, TSA didn't exist when I was a kid.

Millions of people lost their homes under Bush in 2007 and 2008.

You can say Trump was a madman and not play pattycake with Dubya.
