I'll be shocked if the Supreme Court don't take the case. They tend to take cases on the Executive Branch, Exeuctive Power, etc.
I just had a 2nd thought that I'm ok with the trial starting in the summer if the Supreme Court don't issue a ruling for a couple months. That would be closer to the election and in the eyes of more voters.

Unless the Supreme Court declines to hear it, and that may be what they wanted, as far as letting the lower courts decide, so they can just defer it---because of the political backlash/public trust ---it will go to the Supreme Court for a summer decision, right?

The SCOTUS is in a lose/lose position. If they hear the case, they will agree he does not have immunity. If they chose not to hear it, they basically agree he does not have immunity. Trump is about to make indirect threats towards the ones he put in. Trump will sic his extremist base on them. Somebody important will get unalived before the summer.
