I’m more surprised by how much Kosinski managed to nail the essence of the original and trump it altogether more so than it’s box office success. Cruise is that dude, and the time between both entries has spanned generations.

The amount of elderly vets I had seen walking into the theater on opening night was crazy. Was pretty exhilarating to see and kinda hit me like a brick being in service and all. Had their throwback Naval Aviator caps, jackets on and everything. One of them in the most aged, yet innocent sounding voice had asked:

“Is this the theater for Top Gun: Maverick?”

“Yes it is, Sir. Yes it is.” :to:

just saw it 8/10
I felt like I went back in time watching this.
I guess that's why it's working so well.
the flight scene at the end part was good.
it's just a very simple movie. I can see how that can appeal to people. especially during the summer. definitely old school type film.
this made me really want to play Warhawk again :yeshrug:

On second watch...
...the death dream theory holds up pretty well and im inclined to believe it. Theres no way Maverick survives the Mach 10 crash.

Amazing movie.

Draper went from “Take your time, Maverick. Whatever you need.” to “….You’re grounded, Captain. Permanently.” real quick. :mjlol: :dead:
I still don't know what his problem with Maverick was :heh:. Dude has "chief of police" action movie anger for no reason. Just does not like Maverick at all from the jump

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
Haven't been back to the theaters since and it's cuz i know I'ma be disappointed.

TGM set the bar so high... it could give daps to jesus.

Won't eeem be mad if i didnt' go back to the cinemas for the rest of the anos.

Have zero plans on paying to watch Black Adam, Wakander Forever or Avatar. Shiits unappealing across the board.
