Please tel me this motherfukker is really flying that jet. I read reports that they wouldn't let him and he may have had more of a mentor role in the movie, but that was clearly wrong.

Did Tom Cruise actually learn how to fly a jet for this film?

Initial reports said no but to me the shots in the trailer appear filmed to let the audience know he's doing it for real. He's a goofy dude but I do give him props on insisting on authenticity. Something tells me if he had to CGI the flying that he would've turned down the role or they would've re-written it so he wouldn't have flying scenes.

I mean this dude got the movie to fire their insurance company when Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol wouldn't insure him to run on the side of that skyscraper.

Something tells me he found a way to actually fly that damn jet.
