Yea, not sure why people are taking this so serious and getting uptight. The medal counts are literally by country unless they decide to get rid of that and just label it all by individual athlete (except teams where country would still remain), people gonna have fun rooting for country accomplishments and shyt talking other nations. I was just reading an article about why Winter Olympics suck, one bullet point was no rival like we have in summer Olympics - Russia and China, so yes, people gonna get their jokes off on those two just like their citizens are doing about us.
Americans don’t care about the Winter Olympics because we aren’t the overdog in it. We don’t usually do the best there.
Bragging to who tho?
Its what I dont get bout caring about a medal count. You not bout to be in China talking bout "we got more medals in the Olympics that was 3 years ago" and they not bout to do it when they visit here.
There's no bragging rights to this shyt.
If anything the true pride comes to the countries who never win shyt. Those people actually respect and care about whatever they get and get treated as heros.
Americans won't even be discussed by Tuesday outside of their home towns.
exactly

Americans don’t care anout them because they’re full of niche sports that cater to wealthy white people. And almost nothing is interesting to watch outside of maybe figure skating, hockey and the ski jump. We still have the second most medals in the Winter Olympics (307 to Norway’s 368, 105 gold to Norway’s 132) and interest in them pales in comparison to the summer games. If we were 10th or lagged by 100+ medals, maybe the “we’re not the favorite” argument would hold more weight, we compete well, but winter sports is a very niche activity for both geographical and monetary reasons.

there’s no recent history of competition with the other countries in the top 5/6 of winter games - Norway, Germany, Canada, Austria, Switzerland :dead: Americans care about being better than Russia/Soviet Union and now China whether it’s military power, political clout, or sports

That's just your opinion. Cool whatever :manny:

During the Cold War especially, The Olympics was constantly the USA vs USSR and a battle of "Who's the best?" :manny:

Right now, we're in a geopolitical conflict with China. Of course, things are going to get political. Check the Chinese interwebs and you'll see that many of them (though not all) are mad that America is #1 in golds. It's about bragging rights breh. Whether you believe it or not :manny:
