Just saw the women’s 200m final a couple minutes ago. Poor Shelly Ann Frayser:francis: Father Time kicked in with like 40 meters to go and those young chicks walked her down. Gabby and Mboma snatched silver then bronze away from her :picard:

Question for people who follow Track and Field in between the Olympics. What’s up with countries that don’t have anyone representing them in the individual 100 meter finals making it to relay finals like China, Poland, and Belgium?

Yeah I think some people underestimate the difficulty of picking up a new sport and mastering it at the pro level. Reminds me of those that think NFL players could easily transition to rugby.

But as far as the second point, I can't speak for other places but for public schools in Texas there was no boys volleyball. At that point of the school year there were two sports: football for the boys and volleyball for the girls.

Most of the country girls volleyball is in the fall but boys volleyball is in the spring. So it's a decent timing for tall athletes cause it doesn't interfere with football/basketball, just track and baseball. Only issue, like you say, is a lot of schools don't offer it at all.
