Turner Sports and CBS Sports’ exclusive coverage of last night’s NCAA Tournament Regional Final doubleheader – Wisconsin vs. Arizona and Kentucky vs. Notre Dame – averaged a 7.3/14 overnight rating/share to deliver the highest rating for the Saturday Elite Eight game windows in 10 years (8.1/15 overnight rating/share in 2005).
Last night’s thrilling NCAA Tournament Elite Eight game between Kentucky and Notre Dame on TBS generated a 9.0/16 overnight rating/share – peaking with an 11.9/21 from 10:45-11 p.m. ET – to deliver the highest overnight rating for a college basketball game in cable television history.
The Kentucky/Notre Dame telecast is up 53% over last year’s comparable game and is the highest rating in the telecast window in 10 years. The Arizona vs. Wisconsin game averaged a 5.7/12 overnight rating/share for a 24% increase over last year.
The NCAA Tournament across TBS, CBS, TNT and truTV is averaging a 7.1/14 overnight rating/share, the highest–ever rating for the event (since 1991, under the current TV format) and an 11% increase over 2014.
Additionally, NCAA March Madness Live continues its record-setting pace with 67 million live video streams and 14 million live hours of video consumption through Saturday, up 12% and 13% over last year. Yesterday, NCAA March Madness Live delivered a record-setting 5.2 million live video streams and 1.2 million live hours, up 92% and 67%, respectively.
The NCAA Tournament has grossed a record 166 million total social impressions across Facebook and Twitter through the second Thursday for a 36% increase over 2014.
