What original movies were released this year that were good?

Booksmart, escape room, Us, happy death day 2U, under the silver lake, fast color, Ma, Crawl.

Of that’s speaking from what I’ve seen. Haven’t caught everything either due to time or limited release schedule. Really wanted to see the last black man in San Francisco but it didn’t happen. And yeah happy death day 2U is a sequel but it’s a wholly original concept for a sequel.

And to the larger point, a movie doesn’t have to be a critical hit to be a financial one so even is going by what i consider good or you consider good is in no correlation to them making money. Booksmart got incredible reviews but bombed. Lion king got awful reviews and made a billion dollars easily

you guys need to stop this narrative of it running out of ideas. When they give us original ideas, which happens every damn year, people don’t show up. They stay home. They say they’ll catch that on Netflix. So it’s all about franchises and event movies. Because apparently that’s what we want to see in the theater now. This is the market now

Not me breh... I'm sure Netflix paid Scorsese a bundle but I'd have been in the theater day 1 for The Irishman for example

Didn’t Neo and trinity die? And wasn’t there a truce at the end of revolutions? Don’t milk this and just let the franchise die, actually Neo death was ambiguous but Trinity definitely died. And the wack brothers haven’t had a hit in years and one is now a tranny so you just now this movie is going to be full of LBGT (or whatever it is called) agendas just like that gay as Netflix show they did.

Terminator is close but it still has two classics to The Matrix's one.

Seems weird they're letting the Wachowski sister direct this. No problem with her being trans. I do have a problem with her not haing made a good film in 20 years. Seems the perfect time to give this to a new director with fresh ideas.

This is like Disney buying Star Wars and getting Lucas to direct the new trilogy.

As people begin to let Endgame breathe, they're going to see how lazy the time travel plot was. It's a copout for the Matrix especially how we saw the third end. The machines and the humans buried the hatchet. What more is there to tell?

didn't the Architect tell Neo in the television room that "The Matrix" plot has happened 7 times before?

Then at the end of Revolutions, the Architect asked the Oracle if this truce was going to work this time
What if it didn't work and MBJ inserts the archived Neo flash drive into the Matrix
