Movie is amazing. Martin brought that old feeling back. Pesci stole the show. Mafia killing JFK is old news though. Can't believe retarded ass Americans still don't know the true story of why he got assassinated.
The JKF shyt didn’t look like a typical maffia hit tho..don’t know about that breh. If they really wanted to murk someone, it woulda been his brother Bobby who was doing the most back then

It's a hell of a lot better than his last few. Including the semi-overrated Departed
(Some) people wanted fast dialogue, funny characters..more glamour..but like I said 5 pages ago: that was never his goal for this picture. The Departed and Wolf of Wall Street are different type of movies.

this is one of his best since Casino imo..the character study is amazing

Well directed but the story was lacking. I know its only so much u can do with a true story but I feel like this movie is missing a lot. It didn't grab my attention and make me care about the characters and there world like good fellas and casino. The actors all looking and sounding 95 years old cgi/no cgi don't help either. I felt like scorsese being the director was what kept me engaged not the story. Great acting, good directing but a lackluster story and screenplay I give it a 6.5/10 ... Wall street shyts on this movie from a pure joy and entertainment aspect alone. The Irishman felt like I was doing scorsese a favor by watching. Reminds me of having to watch shutter island and kundun.

I think the Irishman is on the same tier as the Departed, one below the standout classics. The Departed is entertaining, but Nicholson is so bad (and the goddamn rat, what was Marty thinking?) I can't put it on the same level as Goodfellas, Mean Streets, Raging Bull, or Taxi Driver.

I just finished it. I was never bored throughout the entire 3.5 hours. Thought the phone call with Sheeran and Ms Hoffa was the most powerful scene in a Scorsese flick in quite some time.

This one is not for everyone. I enjoyed it, but if someone says they didn't like it, I can see why.

Im a bit of a history buff, so some of the shyt they showed was cool to me.

But, the biggest thing is:

You don't have a decent understand of who Jimmy Hoffa was and the power he had, I can easily see you not enjoying this flick. Its like they went into this movie expecting viewers to have a deep understanding of who he was. This movie could easily be called, The Jimmy Hoffa story told thru the eyes of The Irishman. Almost like that coward that killed Jessie James movie.

I just don't think they did enough to show the influence ole dude actually had.

Completely agree. They did more to show Russell's power than Hoffa's.

And you can't go into this movie expecting Goodfellas or Wolf of Wall Street. Goodfellas is one of the best movies ever made. Wolf of Wall Street is fueled by cocaine, the pacing is whip-fast and everything looks all bright and shyt. The Irishman is pretty somber and elegiac in tone.
