So let me get this straight. This WHOLE season the team planned on killing homelander, instead the episode was wasted on fighting fukking Soldier Boy? They had the actual opportunity to take down HL, this doesn't make any sense to me? Butcher literally could've told SB "ayo, hold up let me move the kid out of the way before you blast HL" but instead he has a full on fight and forgets the main objective?

They knew Homelander was about to put them all on t-shirt's if it wasn't for his son.

couldn’t take the chance…some supes have survived the blast physically head on (kimiko, maeve)…others haven’t as seen in herogasm (the twins he set out to kill plus his ex in the episode before I think)…boils down to their strength levels I imagine…butcher doesn’t know how much damage ryan can take at this point and wasn’t prepared to risk it

They definitely messed up how attached Homelander was to Noir. They only had him cry when he knew he was going to kill Noir and had him mention to Deep and Ashley how Noir was worth more to him than all the Seven. That’s it. And it wasn’t enough. If they were going to have Noir killed off like that after wasting his story this season, then they at least should’ve done a better job showcasing how it would affect HL when he had to kill him.

That was the entire point. Look at the guessing in this thread about the finale. Not a single person expected that. And if anything happened that we wanted, that's exactly what we knew would be coming. Either he beats SB or gets killed trying. But nah.. Oops.. None of that. Thought you had an arc going. Thought this was some Hollywood shyt. Thought he'd go out in glory.. Nah

Finale was straight. The only issue I have is Maeve should be dead. It makes no sense how she's alive. The blast de powered her so how does a non-supe survive a fall from a high rise building?

Butcher got super cancer and Homelander and his son gonna takeover America my only issue that Maeve should've been dead

one more thing, I need this guy to get the worst death next season

I didn't like how they handled Noir, only saving grace is if he's not really dead.

Other than that, I agree that faking out soldier boy and Maeve's death wasn't very interesting. I expected soldier boy to be dealt with but not by killing himself then showing he wasn't dead. I do like how soldier boy was manhandling the group but his emotions in this episode doesn't make sense to me. He's sentimental when talking about his father and starting a family, just to throw it all out when facing Homelander. I don't know, it felt cheap or perhaps it was some commentary on his soldier character doing what needs to be done. Butcher going soft when seeing Ryan was less interesting because Butcher was the one pushing for the fight to actually happen yet it didn't.

Other than that, the episode was fine. I think Herogasm was better.

Small gripe is given what Soldier Boy said about wanting another chance to do it right, he would have taken in Ryan to raise him.
