I was all hyped for this show but upon realizing that The Boys won't have superpowers, I've lost a lot of interest. I feel like the writers missed the point of what Garth was going for by them not being super-powered.

based on the comic I figured maybe at some point in the series they will...maybe season 2-3...idk tho...but I was looking forward to that possibility...still a great series so far but I’d be slightly disappointed if they don’t acquire powers at some point since I’m highly anticipating it

I just got done with season 1 a couple a days go and...
The lack of superpowers wasnt as apparent as I thought itd be. Which makes sense. The Boys comic isnt just a deconstruction of Superheroes, its a deconstruction of the entirety of Super Hero COMICS INDUSTRY (along with being a analysis of masculinity, the nature of revenge, and the balance between brutality and empathy). The Boys of the comics have to have powers because they encounter so many Supes and when the plot isnt moving forward, Garth is using them as a plot device to shyt on Super Hero comics.
Whereas the Boys tv show doesnt require one be a student of the Comics industry and is much more kinder to the Supes, going out of its way to humanize them a lot more. Theres less need for the Boys to have to be a equalizing force against Supes as the Supes themselves aren't as much of a threat.
The one thing I will kinda complain about is that given how Season 1 ends (
with Becky being alive and all), I dont think the show s going to have BIlly Butcher go down the route of the Butcher from the comics who decided to kill everyone with Compound V in their veins including the Boys themselves. It to this day is one of the best twists in a comic book series and allowed Garth to really deconstruct the "hard man making hard choices" trope that his own critics say he relies on too much.
