It's basically a genre picture, with Nolan making a Bond movie, so I get that it's homage, but it hits so many cliches, it's hard to take it very seriously. I appreciated the style and pacing, but by the last sequence I was worn out. He really is a very predictable filmmaker. Wasn't all that roses on the floor in Inception too? The flashbacks, all that.

Not that other filmmakers aren't predictable, and very good, but Tenet was grating after awhile. I disagree with @TheGodling, the set up and rising action were all very predictable, but fun, by the time they were storming that desert compound, or whatever that was about, I was numb.

The shots on the water were gorgeous, and the Amalfi coast, it was all very well done.

Watched it this afternoon (14:30 showing, 6 people in it me included ) and it's the first Nolan movie that had me a bit I didnt watch any trailer and went to watch the movie knowing anything of the plot because I trust Nolan (usually)

The movie looked great visually (the inverted environnement is cool af), there are some good action parts overall and I wasnt disappointed at all with the fighting scenes. Also I wasnt bothered by the sound (I'm French so I watched my foreign movies subbed) so I dont share all the sound complaints. I like Nolan's timeline fukkeries so I enjoyed the movie in that regard.

That said there are some grips I have with it which prevented me to fully appreciate the flick:

- some of the dialogues are tuuuuuurible. Feels like some of the exchanges were too forced and "the protagonist" was doing too much with some one liners.

- why is dude obsessed with saving Kat ? Man is a mission-first type of guy but goes above and beyond to save her above all when at some point he says that if needed be, he could take out a child or a woman ? His character feels really flat like je has no depth at all. Also I dont get why he cries for Pattinson at the end itsI not like they were frineds no ? i thougjt that the first time he met him was when he infiltrated the Indian woman tower ?

- villain is terrible. Are there no good English speaking Russian actors ? Karyo's delivery is utter garbage and some of his lines were beyond trash (the tiger one, the if I cant have you one, the cut throat ones etc, the screams he let when he kicks her ...)

- if the movie is a whole palindrome, why doesnt it stop at the concert ?

- also I didnt understand the attack on the Russian city at all. It looked nice and cgi was cool but it didnt make much sense to me . Im not dumb by any means (or maybe I am) but I was confused as hell. I get the temporal pincer attack part and that was a nice idea but I didnt understand the action at all and the logic of it all.

- also there are some inverted parts I didnt get. For example, when they extract Kat to the fire truck, shouldnt they been seen running backwards in the normal version of that event ? Also how come they are not noticed ?

- end scene was rushed but it's also the whole protagonist thing that feels hollow and prevented me to like the main characted. I mean it feels like it needed another 15 minutes (on a 2.5h flick !) to understand how breh pulled all the strings and what motivated him

I feel like I need to rewatch the movie but I dont want to really because I rate it as a 6 or 7 movie...

Although, I'm sure it's best seen on the big screen, it needed to be a Netflix series to be fully fleshed out. There were some really dense, complicated ideas that just don't get explained.
At some point one of the characters says half to the audience "I know it doesn't make sense, just go with it."

It was easy to make out what was going on, why should movies explain everything.

Gunplay sequences are Nolan's worst. Word to snow sequence in Inception.

Having watching this twice and it's even BEFORE upon 2nd viewing. I know what the issue is about the sound mixing. It's IMAX. I watched it the first time on an IMAX screening and the 2nd on a regular screen and on the regular, everything mixed and sound perfectly.

I knew this may of been the reason since with IMAX cameras the cons ALWAYS been the sound recording.

So to anyone, I suggest to watch it on a regular screen. The movie won't ruin its value, ironically it may increase it.

shyt was fire...gotta see it again. Not because i was confused in anyway but to catch things similar to the Way I felt after the prestige. I had fun, IMAX looked great. Washington is fukking excellent as always and Battinson was also good. But its true about the mix...sometimes you had trouble hearing dialogue.

I thought the movie was great.

I can't help but feel this movie is actually a movie that you can watch backwards and it tells the same story as it does forward if not "better" the second go around backwards.


A lot of really dope scene's and galaxy brain moments.

If you watch it on a regular screening the dialogue will be clear. It's because Nolan used IMAX cameras which aren't great for audio purposes in combination of an IMAX sound system.
