depends on your state, my state theaters are supposed to open like june 2nd. you gotta be a fukking retard to go to one though unless they greatly limit capacity

ya no way in hell I'm risking it as much as I want to see this flick...I was just curious cuz I still see folks floating around the 7/17 date...I read that the WB is not interested in dropping the movie until about 80% of theaters worldwide are open for business...don’t know how reliable the source is...

The way things are opening up quickly, TENET should be able to drop July 17 or 24th.

Yeah....John David has huge shoes to fill but its best he just be himself. It's tough to be the Son of a Legend and go into that Legends field. "Blackkklansmen" was more of a drama so that was up Denzel's alley plus it was Spike so we know the relationship he has with Denzel. This is a Sci-Fi Blockbuster....Denzel didn't do a lot of Sci-Fi but Nolan's originality is something I could see Denzel liking so I know he's happy for his Son. He he did release "Virtuosity" in the 90's. I saw it in the theater back then. I liked it but didn't do to hot at the Box Office but it stared Denzel and a Young Russell Crowe. Matter a fact this summer is the 25th Anniversary. Crazy to see where Russell Crowe is now when he was basically a rookie then. This whole situation sucks.....WB is taking a "Wait and see" approach. I'm hearing "Wonder Woman" could be pushed back again maybe as well. They are scared of "Tenet" losing money on VOD because of the huge Budget but how are you gonna make money if the theater is 25-30% capacity because of social distancing? You are going to lose money either way. That's why I said limited Theatrical release and then straight to VOD. I don't think Nolan or WB realizes they can hit people over the head on VOD. I said 24.99. Shoot they could charge 29.99 and people will pay to watch it from home. 5 Million people pay 29.99 that's like 150 Million. Now imagine the whole World trying to VOD "Tenet" and your looking at huge numbers. "Trolls" and "Scoob" have both made big money on VOD.

^^^ good breakdown...I wonder what their box office expectations were given optimal conditions...do they think this flick can gross over a billion...I know it cost $200M to make...so expectations gotta be @ least $400M+

*edit*

inception cost $160M to make and grossed $290M domestically and $830M worldwide so I can imagine they initially had similar expectations for tenet prior to this pandemic...I can understand them waiting even tho that sucks

Things have changed since "Inception" here's Nolan's last two films:

Intersteller
DOMESTIC (27.8%)
$188,020,017
INTERNATIONAL (72.2%)
$489,443,796
WORLDWIDE

$677,463,813

Dunkirk
DOMESTIC (36%)
$189,740,665
INTERNATIONAL (64%)
$337,200,000
WORLDWIDE
$526,940,665

Yes though "Tenet" has "Inception" Vibes that doesn't mean it would of done "Inception" dough. Also Leo starred in "Inception"....John David has not proven to be a "Draw" Yet. Also the Twilight Kat hasn't had a box office hit since the Twilight movies, he's mostly been doing indie films. Yes they cast him as Batman but it's not out yet. So I don't think they were looking at "Inception" numbers per say.....but if they were shooting for "Intersteller" or "Dunkirk" numbers than sure. My point is the Theaters won't be "Full" Capacity and "Everyone" wouldn't have watched it if it was. There aren't enough "Drive Ins" to make up the difference. My point remains, you will lose money no matter what. The question is which route will give the movie the best profits. 10 Million VOD purchases at 29.99 is 300 Million. Again money will be lost no matter what. If they push it back to 2021 they are losing the hype they have now for the movie.

WB wants a simultaneous worldwide release. If one market is not looking up to measure for WB's projections it's likely not happening.

great points @Rapmastermind although I still don’t think they’re gonna rush to do VOD...they’re gonna get that $$$ regardless so I still think they’re gonna wait and weigh their options and see about getting it in theaters first for a lengthy run...from their standpoint there really is no rush to do VOD @ this point...as a moviegoer I’d absolutely settle for it tho
