:damn: NOLAN PLEASE DON'T MAKE US MAKE THIS CHOICE

OMG...."Inversion". Yep, Like I said, possible multiple timeline theory (Mulitverse) but it seems they can't travel back that far but we will see how the rules are established. Also what technology is being used. Loved the 1st trailer but this was it. Wow, John David....Denzel has to be proud, this is a huge role for him. Also Nolan gave the Brotha the lead of the film. Definitely has "Inception" vibes as well with this being the 10th Anniversary. Nolan please don't do this to us. This is not us movie heads fault. I say there has to be a compromise with this theater Vs VOD thing. Listen WB and Nolan, if you release the movie even in a few months...it will most likely lose money. I'm sorry it is what it is. We are in uncharted territory. Will some people take the risk? Yes. But with no treatment or vaccine...people will stay home. This isn't the 80's anymore, people have loads of entertainment options. But this would easily do very well opening weekend. But there's other options. If you push it back to the Holiday season....there's to many movies back ended to the end of this year so it will be crowded. If you push it to 2021, that's a longer wait when you know it's ready for the world.

Instead of going straight to VOD......release it limited in Theaters for about 2 weeks globally. There is a small chance to still bring in a few Hundred Million. But you must immediately then drop it VOD. It will still make millions. I would pay the 24.99 VOD (Rent to own) no problem. Because I know this is the type of film I would watch again. Yes people could pirate it during those 2 weeks but that copy would be subpar......I'd pay the markup for a quality VOD stream. I saw "Inception" twice. Yes I want to watch this on the big screen. But wearing a mask for 2 hours? I don't know. Plus with the AC and ventilation, this disease could spread in an enclosed space like that. I noticed they took the release date off this trailer. Look I know this is hard Nolan. We love the theater and movies. But delaying this to 2021 just isn't necessary. Limited release and then break the all time VOD Records. But loved the trailer.......this is messed up what's happening, but I'm taking a wait and see approach before going back to the theater quickly.

They need to release simultaneously in theaters and VOD.

I've mentioned before VOD can't sustain the industry in perpetuity, but right now people are clamoring for something new. I and probably 20 million other households would pay $20 for a VOD release.

Whoever pulls the trigger first is going to look like a genius.

Things have changed since "Inception" here's Nolan's last two films:

Intersteller
DOMESTIC (27.8%)
$188,020,017
INTERNATIONAL (72.2%)
$489,443,796
WORLDWIDE
$677,463,813

Dunkirk
DOMESTIC (36%)
$189,740,665
INTERNATIONAL (64%)
$337,200,000
WORLDWIDE
$526,940,665

Yes though "Tenet" has "Inception" Vibes that doesn't mean it would of done "Inception" dough. Also Leo starred in "Inception"....John David has not proven to be a "Draw" Yet. Also the Twilight Kat hasn't had a box office hit since the Twilight movies, he's mostly been doing indie films. Yes they cast him as Batman but it's not out yet. So I don't think they were looking at "Inception" numbers per say.....but if they were shooting for "Intersteller" or "Dunkirk" numbers than sure. My point is the Theaters won't be "Full" Capacity and "Everyone" wouldn't have watched it if it was. There aren't enough "Drive Ins" to make up the difference. My point remains, you will lose money no matter what. The question is which route will give the movie the best profits. 10 Million VOD purchases at 29.99 is 300 Million. Again money will be lost no matter what. If they push it back to 2021 they are losing the hype they have now for the movie.
You typed all that after posting that Dunkirk made 526M (with no stars):heh:

Some of you are really clueless. They will never do VOD for a big film like this especially when the director is one of the main proponents of film and the theater-going experience. This isn't Trolls world tour. Smarten up

Nolan would NEVER accept a VOD release, so that's out. It either gets released in July or later in the year. I still think it gets released in July, because Tenet will have damn near 80 percent of every theater's movie screens for at least 3 months. They can run Tenet all day and night on almost every screen.

Exactly....the future may be now. I know it's hard when change comes. This reminds me of the Naspter Drama late 90's or when Netflix first came and put Blockbuster Video on the ropes. We are in a new world and if Hollywood thinks it can just turn this on like a light switch they are in for a rude awakening. Also New York and LA are the biggest theater markets so they have to open those for a chance to bring in bigger box office.

No one imagined all theaters would be closed right now either.

Never in my lifetime has the Theater been shut down for like 3 months. No Summer Movie Season thus far. People also aren't taking the economy into consideration. Millions of people are out of work. Unemployment is very high. There are people going to food banks all across the country. Spending money at the Theater may be last on the list of priorities for many people right now.
