Just came back from seeing it the Drive-In and I liked it. I do have some issues with the audio, I swear there were some parts where I couldn't understand/make out a word they were saying! Few scenes where I had no idea wth was going on. I'm gonna have re-watch with subtitles.

Also, shocked to learn Aaron Johnson was in the movie. Didn't recognize him at all.

He was the army dude lol
I just had to google him :russ:
Wait a second......that was Kick-Ass?!?!?

Saw it a couple weeks ago, didn't have much problems with the sound (but tbh I was checking the subtitles -in french- just to make sure I understood what I was hearing...movie is confusing lol)...I really enjoyed the whole cinematic experience, the visuals, the music, etc...story was confusing but at some point I just accepted the premice without question the science. But there was a lot of unnecessary build-up and dialogue, and I really didn't care for the personal couple problems.

I would've liked the movie not to basically be a secret agent movie and focus more on the sci-fi aspect. Travelling all over the world, the whole Goya thing, the Russian oligarch...I could've done without tbh. I think the movie would've have been stronger if we had more info about those in the future who want to wage war on this generation. Maybe some back and forth with that era. We're kind of left with hardly any information about them, how they came to this decision, how they discovered inversion, etc...:manny:

Did anybody else notice that at the end where they were in the desert area with the army, they weren't shooting at anybody? They were shooting at empty buildings. shyt bothered the hell out of me. :mjlol:

They must have been over budget and couldnt hire people to be random goons

Breh I just was about to post about this but then I thought maybe it was me and I missed something lol. But that's also the impression I got, I was confused as hell at who exactly they were fighting. Shots fired, explosions, but where were the enemies? Did I miss something or maybe the whole action was too confusing:jbhmm:

Not only did I not know who they were fighting, but they weren't fighting anyone :dead:

It was explained to me that the other team they were seeing was the 10 minutes ahead team, so I guess that kind of makes sense, but the rest didn't. I assume that part of the movie was affected by covid or something.

Yeah I understood that 10 minute thing, but the rest...oh well...planning on seeing it again, we'll see if it makes more sense :yeshrug::russ:

So it has only made $30 million in the US and Canada so far. Saw an interesting comment on Deadline saying that everyone in the industry is acting like Tenet needs to be successful to bring theaters back to the point no one is even

Nolan is a trash action director, that's why.

People actually gave him a pass for pulling the same shyt in Dunkirk where you never saw the Germans and everyone was just shooting at off-screen things.

Here it's worse because Nolan makes a big deal of the temporal pincer attack only to present a big mess of people shooting guns around backwards explosions and people running backwards through normal explosions and no rhyme or reason to it.

Just saw the movie. First movie I've seen in theaters since Birds of Prey. I knew NOTHING about the film going in so I didn't know what to expect. It was decent but very confusing.

As usual Michael Caine made an appearance. Was waiting for Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy to pop up since those three seem to always appear in Nolan's movies. :pachaha:

I could have waited until this hit blue ray to be honest. :unimpressed:

I wish it was an actual war against the future. And I wish they had some historic and futuristic set pieces. Maybe I'm corny :yeshrug:

Not exactly. They were technically warring themselves as a diversion for Sator. They didn't want to make it appear they were after the Algorithm so they made a fake conflict on that land. What they didn't know was Sator already sensed they were planning to do that hence the booty-trap to seal off the entrance.

I got that from some youtube vids, but I wash I got it from the movie. Also, if all the good guys were trying to do was stop Sator from burying the complete algorithm, what stops them from digging it up just after he buries it and and destroying it? They know exactly where it is... The fixed timeline just doesn't work for my mind.

You are entering to a grandfather paradox. So, Sator's plan was to blow the Algorithm in the past. We know that SOMETHING DOES blow up there because Michael Caine's character (of the same name) mentioned about the explosion that occured. So that timeline is already fixed. They cannot recreate the past, but they were already predestined for the things in the past to already happened. Sator from hearing about the explosion at his home town ASSUMED the device worked which set motion for him to do what he thought would be his success. But he was mistaken and fooled bu the TENET organization to make it appear the algorithm exploded. Sator's fatal flaw was thinking by setting it up in the PAST would work, because he did not fathom the grandfather paradox of "what happens, happened". Had Sator collected the Algorithm and motioned it to sometime in the future, he MAY have a chance, but being that the protagonist is technically FROM the future and created TENET, Sator would of had to outlive the protagonist to be that far out into the future, and he was already dying of cancer so it was moot at any point, because he was technically the past in the future protagonist's eyes. What's destined is destined no matter.

But to get your your question directly. Team TENET knew that Sator would know they were going to search for the Algorithm. They even figured that he'll have something up his sleeve for precaution, which he DID. Had it only been the forward moving RED TEAM that the protagonist was on, they would of went into that same booby-trap, Sator would of had his goon that was waiting to set off the Algorithm to shoot the protagonist and Ives in the head like we saw in the film, the ONLY difference is there WOULDN'T BE an inverted NEIL to save their lives taking that bullet for them. You see, the plan was just to stated, to go there to dig it back up and destroying it, but the catch was Sator expecting them to come, which is why they did the "temporal princer movement" where one team goes forward and the other inverted within the ten minute span. They were expecting the inverted team to catch anything Sator was trying to do. Neil, being on the blue inverted team saw the booby-trap but it was too late, so he went in another opening to warn them about the trap. It wasn't that simple as to just waltz up in there. And everything was already predestined so things that happened MEANT to happen that way no matter what.
