I love Succession but Breaking Bad’s final season has EASILY been better than Succession’s

Aside from episode 3 there’s no classic/shocking/breathtaking episodes like BB had it’s last season.

The finale is gonna have to step it up big time if this show is going to end as one of the GOATs
Breaking Bad was GREAT. But it didn’t do nearly the things the other shows did. It didn’t have anything to say. I feel like that’s a mark of ELITE television. BB just took the Sopranos blueprint of making you root for a villain without any of the character build up. Walt only had cancer and got his genius stolen from him. We never really learned more about him as the show went on. The show never really talked about the evil of the drug trade and how it ruined lives. It was just pure entertainment. Which make its great! But they don’t get to sit with the big boys. IMO, Better Call Saul>Breaking Bad for that reason alone.

:jbhmm: IMO I learn that walt is a know it all egotistical narcissist who hate being look down on. and in a way depending on how you look at you can say what happen to the Margolis Family and Cantillo Family show the evils of the drug trade:patrice:

In the real elite scumbag world, when they suddenly lose a life-changing deal or stocks drop tremdously, the

weaklings usually off themselves. So, I hope Succession stays true to that facet of the Billiionair Boys Club and let Rome or Ken take one for the team:dame::skip::ehh:

Yup.

Breaking Bad is entertaining but it’s not in-depth and because of that it’s not a top 5 show. Still really damn good.

this is definitely better than mad men, but i will say the character development in Mad Men is somehow underrated...it was pretty amazing

and I'll be honest

Succession does not have a moment as legendary as "NOT GREAT BOB :francis:" Pete Campbell would fit RIGHT into this show...he's probably a better Tom than Tom.

There's no character on Succession that matches the storytelling that Don's whole character arc goes thru. Even characters like Joan show the writing on MM is better than on here but MM had Sopranos alums working on it.

Honestly. Completely forgot about those plot points. Which kinda lends to my point as they weren’t the most prominent themes of the show. Those deaths and consequences weren’t NEARLY as moving or touching as Adriana in Sopranos or the countless characters in the wire who got destroyed by their circumstances.

I don't think succession cares too much about long term development for anyone other than Greg or Tom. Peggy Olson's arc is one of the best in television history, for real. Her development was really intriguing and well written.

Yea...these characters have mostly stayed the same throughout the shows run with the exception of Tom & Greg. Other shows have done more with the ancillary characters than Succession but that doesn't mean Succession isn't a better show...just means the writing has focused on other aspects.

Also, lot of folks were complaining the show was spinning it's wheels before the S3 finale. So the writing has had some peaks & valleys.

So you were not saddling whatsoever at what happen to Andrea:to: I felt sadder for her than I did for Adriana both Andrea and her son got caught up in walt war against gus.

In the first couple episodes Greg was vomiting over himself in a mascot costume, asking his mom for money, and waxing poetic about his favorite restaurant.... California Pizza Kitchen...

...now he is one of the 3 most powerful people at the most powerful news network on television, and doing his own manipulation within the family.

I'd say he's changed.

Of course i was. Introducing a character out the blue in season just for the express notion of killing them off to garner emotion isn’t the same as killing a character we’ve watched grow for years. One is a bit cheaper than the other. I’m not saying Sopranos is a maybach and Breaking Bad is a Honda Civic. But Breaking bad is just a nice BMW to me.

Watching Chris kill Adrianna, a couple we rooted for for several seasons and then watching the impact of what the decision did to him showed us (like the show did countless times) how that gangster lifestyle isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Peggy is the prime example i use when i argue that most of television audiences aren’t as sexist as they get accused of.
