People didn't like the journalism season of The Wire, but I think those people are wrong. You still have journalists in America talking about how we need to fund their work, Democracy Dies in Darkness, and all that, and they're woefully ineffective at even uncovering corruption, much less strongly addressing it. Outside of Pro Publica and PBS Frontline, what news entity is even trying? And that goes triple for local news.
I can't pick between Succession and The Wire. I have them 1A and 1B. Both of them are about how nothing changes for the people at the top or on the bottom and no one is equipped to do anything to address that.
