to people who've peeped this and mad men, which do you like better?
this is definitely better than mad men, but i will say the character development in Mad Men is somehow underrated...it was pretty amazing

and I'll be honest

Succession does not have a moment as legendary as "NOT GREAT BOB :francis:" Pete Campbell would fit RIGHT into this show...he's probably a better Tom than Tom.

tom and greg been on fire for 2 seasons straight...Tom is a legend.

Pete is basically TOM and GREG combined....the buildup and payoff of "not great bob" was one of the funniest things ive ever seen. I had seen the gif and reference for years, and still busted out laughing when binging the show for the first time.

Its so weird. I watched the entirety of Mad Men and can't really remember much about it. No shade because I remember thinking how great it was when I was watching it but it really doesn't resonate much with me at all.

They donā€™t. We all agree Kendall is a terrible human being. Same way everyone understood Tony Soprano and Walter White were shytty people. But calling us sexist cause we point out that the women in their lives were pretty shytty too at times is horseshyt. Itā€™s not our fault the characters donā€™t give us nothing else to work with.

Your entire post basically boils down to its ok to do shytty things to shytty people. Which, FINE. But weā€™re not a$$holes for acknowledging the shyt.
It's not shytty, is my point. It's a direct necessary thing to do because Kendall has been shytty in the first place, and so has his father for that matter..

It's corny to act like Rava's being shytty. The man whose funeral she's supposed to be attending had her son poison-testing his drink. Who out here would feel like they're being shytty if they held their kid back from going to that funeral? If the roles were reversed and Kendall did that to Rava because Rava's dad was being terrible to Iverson, everyone in here would be unanimous about how he's right and it isn't shytty because he's just protecting his kid.

I would agree with some of this, however just the NIGHT and DAY difference between this and Billions (I've seen ppl compare them) doesn't that show it is hard to do? Billions had the chance to watch white collar TV as well, and fell flat
Succession is one of the best written shows of all time. Billions is not :mjlol: I actually liked what I saw of Billions, but the reliance on pop culture references got old fast. Succession is Shakespearean at times. Just shows how highly I rate Mad Men, not at all underrating Succesion.

Billions at its best was almost as compelling as some of succession. But comparing even the first 4 seasons succession kills it, its not every close.

a finbro like me is attracted to billions but nah, its not apples to apples... we're comparing Watermelon to cherries when we're talking succession to billions

ya after doing a complete rewatch I have it top 3ā€¦the family dynamic really hits home for meā€¦personally I still donā€™t have it cracking the sopranos or the wire (Iā€™m long overdue for a rewatch of ā€œthe wireā€ tho)
People didn't like the journalism season of The Wire, but I think those people are wrong. You still have journalists in America talking about how we need to fund their work, Democracy Dies in Darkness, and all that, and they're woefully ineffective at even uncovering corruption, much less strongly addressing it. Outside of Pro Publica and PBS Frontline, what news entity is even trying? And that goes triple for local news.

I can't pick between Succession and The Wire. I have them 1A and 1B. Both of them are about how nothing changes for the people at the top or on the bottom and no one is equipped to do anything to address that.

was that S5?

the main reason Iā€™m critical of that season (I never really voiced it on here) is bcuz I didnā€™t watch the season correctlyā€¦if I recall that was the season that leaked out of order or with missing episodesā€¦so for me it was kind of scattered and I never did a proper rewatch of it when the eps aired
