Thanks. TBH, i don't have any games on steam so my primary reason would be for portable emulation (primarily NES to PS1/PS2) and potentially PS remote play/GP. I've also seen some promising videos with some PS3 games/Switch games running, but I'm not sure how much work is required to get them up and running.

Also, I would hate to get a Switch for only BOTW (what i'm most interested in) even though I haven't played a Zelda game since LTTP on SNES. Most other games I'm interested in playing i already have on other platforms. I know switch online offers a limited library of NES, SNES, Genesis, and N64 games but the Switch library itself hasn't seemed appealing enough for me to commit to it, and I wouuld like to try and avoid getting both if possible
I followed this guide for PS2 emulation, and other than a few audio glitches and finding a better site for roms, it works great.

I haven't tried PS1 yet, but I can't imagine it would give you an issue.

there’s a tutorial posted in here that shows you how to get practically all of the emulators in one easy swoop but you have the option to customize it and not install the emulators you don’t want…lemme see if I can find it

emulators info…there’s a video in one of the links…

Emu deck is a software for steam deck that downloads and configures multiple emulators for your steam deck

This guy put out a guide and video to help people getting started. I followed and it’s pretty straightforward

:whew: Now I have everything on it

here’s a vid on how to get game pass on it…

You could add a Xbox Cloud app to it but you would have to create the app so it can load easily through Game Mode:

And yes you can use it as a gaming pc. I did that for a few games and the shyt was like having a glorified Switch with unlimited possibilities.

Hell, just last night I hooked up the Deck to the TV so my family and I watch a movie. So you pretty much good all around from a gamer perspective to just using it as a regular PC.

you can look at these beforehand and decide if you feel the shyt is too much hassle to deal with or not

Definitely not too much of a hassle. Thank you both. I appreciate the advice. I think i may get more mileage out of this than a Switch especially if there's overlap in some of the games.

I cant decide between this or the Switch OLED. My PC game library is all spread out. Its saying under half my games are compatible. Might just get the OLED..

That shyt isn't reliable; way more games will work on the Steam Deck than indicated by the 'Steam Deck verified' rating. If a game has gamepad support then you're good, but even then you got the track pads to simulate a mouse.

There's a Decky plugin that gives you more accurate compatibility ratings for games on Steam.

While this is true, it's a good indication gauge of if it'll work fully or not. Some games will still run, but certain features won't. And since they're listed as Unsupported, I don't believe that simply making a community complaint to the devs will get you anywhere. Some of my games that aren't deck verified run well enough and some wouldn't even get past the logo screen or even that far.

Over had one deck verified grand that surely didn't run well at all tho. Hitman 2. It took several attempts to even get the game to boot without crashing for no reason and then even getting it booted up, the controls were severely fukked, as if it needed to be played by kb/mouse, despite the fact that the control settings were defaulted to the game pad and even when I tried to change templates, it still was acting funny. That was too much toggling for me so I Uninstalled that shyt with the quickness. Too much of a storage and battery waster of a game for me to have that much trouble to also deal with.

Feel tempted to buy one since my laptop is causing issues. Anyways, I have a question how do CRPGs play on the deck?
