So with the ROG I’d have to play with the settings to get a game to run well but with the SD those settings will be automatically in place or easier to configure?For me the biggest advantage that the ROG has over the SD is that the ROG can play everything the SD can play and some of the newer games that the SD cannot. Also the ability to use Game Pass which is not too important but a nice option to have. That said, from what I've experienced with the ROG, a lot of games will require you playing with settings to get them to run decently so if you're not a fan of playing with settings, the SD might be better.
I wouldn't say emulating on the ROG is difficult since it's just a PC in handheld form. You can install Emudeck or download and install the emulators individually. I have it setup on my ROG but I'm going to upgrade the SSD before I do anything else. You can also install Bazzite on it to turn it into an unofficial steam deck.
