I finally saw this last night and thought it was great. It's been a while since I watched the og trilogy but my initial reaction is that Homecoming is the best Spider-Man movie. My only minor complaint would be how much tech he had in the suit, but it makes sense since it was given to him by Stark and he used it as a way to keep an eye on him so I'm not too upset with it.

Holland was great as both Parker and Spidey. And everyone else on the cast killed it too

Tony isnt necessary for ANYTHING peter parker, lets get that REAL RIGHT.
only thing I really was :martin: about in the movie

I've brought it up before, but the hero worship pete had for tony rubs the wrong way. Uncle ben is his biggest influence making other heroes an integral part of his early development misses the mark with me as a fan.

But I understand they had to insert him into a movie verse that was pretty far along already so I can overlook it:francis:

I liked it for the most part

Michael Keaton did a good job and his acting in the kitchen and car was great
The date pickup reveal was great, I didn't expect it
The cast was mostly good
Simple story, well told

Spiderman in DC looked strange
Tony Revolori as Flash is a big miscast. I loved him in Grand Budapest Hotel but he looked the biggest nerd of them all but somehow is a DJ, and is successful at it, for a house party. Maybe the point was to have him as a nerd but act (at times) like a jock but it fell flat imo.
Too much Happy and Stark
Maybe high school has changed since I was there but having popular kids on the quiz team was really strange.

I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10

They went to a magnet school, so all of the students are REALLY smart, even Flash, some are just socially awkward.

Also Flash wasn't supposed to be a jock, he's supposed to be the popular rich kid that just continually harasses and makes fun of other people. Think less Biff Tannen and more that chick from mean girls.

Yeah I got that they are all smart but that also mean somebody has to be the dumbest of the smart kids but it's a minor thing. I still would've wanted Flash to be someone a little bigger.

I honestly never understood the big jock bully angle. Are we really supposed to believe that spider man is intimidated by a the physicality of a high school bully? Dude just fought Captain America and some high school jock is his cryptonite? Humiliation and jokes types bullying makes more sense to me. Nothing spider man can do about being clowned non-stop. But he could easily just beat up a jock if dude was trying push him around all the time.

That's a big part of still in school Peter Parker imo. Peter has been bullied for years by a big a$$hole but doesn't do anything about when he gets powers because with great power comes great responsibility.

I understand him holding back due to his ethics and everything. But from and personal prospective it wouldn't really bother you that much when you know for fact you can whoop his ass anytime you fell like it . It would be like a 4ft woman threatening to beat you up each day. Maybe it gets annoying, But you're not going to be overly concerned or stressed about it.

You ever go camping in your front yard? Yes, technically its exactly the same as camping in the woods. But you probably have a lot less trepidation about it because you know if anything goes wrong you have a safety net .If it starts pouring down rain or you run out of food for example, you can just get up and go inside. Having a safety net like that reduces the stakes therefore making less impactful. When flash is a physical bully he is only a factor in Peter's life before he gets powers. after that he's just fly you have tolerate until you swat away for getting too annoying. This version of flash has more of an impact on him from psychological perspective meaning he can still be legitimate antagonizing presence even when Peter gets powers, because Peter is still poor and unpopular, still worried about getting girls to like him even though he can stop a car with his bare hands. That takes better advantage of the high school dynamic that you said is such a big part of Peter's character imo. You say he doesn't do anything about it because of his responsibility. This version of flash Peter can't do anything about regardless of how great his powers are.

Agree %100

I had no problem with this Flash Thompson. If anything he felt more realistic as to what I would expect a modern day bully to be; essentially a prolific troll. Only thing that'd make it more realistic would be if he was on some cyber bullying shyt too lol. That whole "i'll stuff you into a locker" thing of the past.. yea sure whatever, i'd expect Peter to handle any type of physical confrontation like that the same way Toby did in the first Spidey trilogy... at which point that Flash became useless.

But with what Homecoming did, Flash now has a reason to be there as a reoccurring character and a constant irritant. And whether Pete was bit by a spider or not is actually irrelevant to dealing with him. I love that actually
