OH shyt!
THATS the shyt I was thinking about when Mysterio was playing the illusion games with him.
:ohhh:

I was like, "yo this reminds me of something."
:patrice:

But I couldnt put my finger on it.

I wanna see this again, but I really wanna check this Midsommer shyt out today.
I feel left out.
:mjcry:
Ha I'm going to see that tonight too.

But yeah some of the stuff straight up put me in mind of that those scenes from the games when Mysterio was messing with his emotions through the illusions

I'm not denying that. I really can't say I have read any issues with Mysterio doing his thing besides the very early stuff.

Some of the 80s and 90s stuff goes there. The ultimate Mysterio definitely has weird shyt in it. I haven’t read them in years tho but it’s weird trippy shyt

He was in the recent Old Man Logan joints (or Dead Man Logan, cant remember the title).
but he was in a retirement home or some shyt cause he was tired of the fukkery.
Old Man Logan (Hawkeye tags along) goes to find him so he can kill him to prevent him from tricking him into killing the X-Men again.
the funniest thing about the Mysterio character in the comics is, he NEVER NOT lives up to being a complete fukkboy.
every character (hero/villain) knows that he WILL... no matter what he says... will go back to some ol bullshyt villainy shyt that EVERYBODY said he would eventually do.
:deadmanny:

And Logan shoulda killed his ass as soon as they found him.

but NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I agree with some of this but the main thing I disagree with, is the idea peter hasn’t grown. He’s grown a lot from civil war to now. He was a 14/15 year old kid who’d never been out of queens to now a 16 year old fully ready to be Spider-Man. Not someone’s protege but his own hero. He created his own suit, he takes his own responsibility and doesn’t need an adult or anyone else to tell him what’s right or wrong. Through his mistakes in homecoming and far from home, he’s grown. He needed to fukk up here to grow into his powers and into someone who can formulate his own plan—an actual plan, not him just fukking around and hoping it works—and save the day. Which he did.

Tragedy and death are big parts of his life and I’m sure he’ll have time to show more of that. But clearly losing tony had a big effect on him, just like any death he’s dealt with. And like in the comics, he questions who he is and who he wants to be after that death occurs. But also like the comics, he comes out stronger on the other side because he realizes the person he lost wants him to continue and keep going.

I disagree with the notion that peter is his on hero. This version of Spider-Man is far from his own hero. In fact that was one of the major things lost was the fact Spider-Man is a working class hero. His iconic suit one of the greatest in comic book history is giving to him not crafted by his own hands with materials he cobbled together but a high tech suit giving to him by tony. Even in this movie he designs a suit through tony’s jet, using tony’s design for the most part and tony’s resources while they play ac/dc in the background calling back to tony.

How he defeated Mysterio was him and he gets props for that but I dislike how tony has replaced uncle Ben. I also dislike the more iconic aspects to peter’s persona as spider-man are not created by him but are in fact giving to him removing the creativity and ingenuity that I personally enjoy about spider-man.

I personally don’t see the growth in peter’s character that you do but we can agree to disagree on that part. I felt that Peter was about in the same place he was at the end of this movie as he was in homecoming to be honest. I mean if the reveal that happened at the end didn’t happen then how would he have changed?

It was old man Logan and his role in that story makes no sense based on how logan’s Senses work. Great story but hated how they used mysterio instead of someone like mastermind whose powers actually would work in the manner that would trick wolverine into killing the x-men and is actually an x-men rogue.

Interesting. His genius and intellect is more there in this movie than the last one. He created his own suit. Yes it’s still a tech suit but that’s the world of marvel and it has to fit this universe. I made my peace with that a while back.

He’s in a different place because he accepted the call. He “stepped up” when he didn’t want to. He wasn’t the reluctant hero that he was in act 1. And I already said how I felt about tony/Ben a couple posts up so I don’t repeat it, but I do get why people make that comparison and take issue with it.
