That being said this movie seems like a mix of Sonic 2 & Sonic 3

So canon wise where does the franchise go? Does Sonic and Knuckles/Sonic CD with Metal Sonic probably end up merged as part 3 and call it a wrap? Or do they skip that and go straight into fan service mode with Shadow/Amy/Chaos/Silver and those type of characters

Theyre being kinda loose with the lore but its turning out great

I'm really excited for this movie looks like they are incorporating more of the game stuff and Knuckles actually looks cool for the first time in 20 years.

hope they put Metal or Mecha Sonic in this.

They have to take this off world and go full chaos emerald hunting if they keep this going. Introduce Shadow at that point. Next film, though, for this current story should be Mecha Sonic and Amy.

And to think, the OG character design of Sonic in the first film was and almost stillbirth'd this franchise from the start. Listening to Sonic fans and fixing that character design saved his whole image.

Now, if the sequel is a financial and critical success in terms of quality, Paramount and SEGA got themselves a film franchise that will legit be a box office powerhouse for the decade to come.
