One of the writers of this movie said they only have rights to a few characters. And I’m guessing those are the characters we see in this movie and maybe big the cat, Amy, and whoever else they added to the series.

Not sure who has the rights to the freedom fighters

these movies should only really be about the following:

• Sonic
• Tails
• Eggman
• Knuckles
• Mecha Sonic
• Shadow
• MAAAAYBE Amy but not really

The rest will come across as too goofy to me

Nah. No Amy. No shadow. The team from the Saturday morning cartoon and Archie comics actually had story and character. I’ll take them over anyone else minus knuckles

I wouldn't mind if they did Chaos from Sonic Adventure, especially since he's connected to Knuckles' backstory, but otherwise I agree 100%.

thats my point, none of them really hit the public like that compared to the list i mentioned. The characters in the game were more popular than the comics and cartoons for sure.

That's just not going to happen

Not only for legal reasons but because they don't make sense in the context of the movie story. They were freedom fighters trying to save Mobius from Robotnik's tyranny...the movies have none of that.

We need Mecha Sonic and Shadow both to end the series with either 3 or 4 movies. I think both of them in one movie would be too cramped though

Wow, that looks dope. A Mixture of Sonic 2 and 3 the game. Damn, that was a quick turnaround too. I like where they're going with franchise. They've come a long way from people complaining about that first design, lol. Knuckles goes hard too.

Shadow and Mecha S will definitely be in the films at some. There names are all over comment sections at the moment no way the film team doesn't hear it. I do think Amy will probably pop up in the next film and Mecha sonic from a narrative point. The animated series is intriguing though
