First of all this was and A+ season of television. Shyt had everything, scenes that made you laugh, cry, feel proud as well as disgusted and definitely made you think.
  • Got to concede Kev is dead I guess. But WTF? No on screen death, no one talking about his funeral. But a tombstone does signify a funeral/burial occurred and people saw him dead. I still think there is a small chance he is alive but it is not likely. I was wrong.
  • Strange how they ended the Lucia/Gustavo storyline. I guess Gustavo's dead and Lucia is going to move to a new area. Are they written off the show? I wonder. lol if their entire storyline was just to introduce the DEA agent character.
  • I need more background on how Franklin figured out Reed is a government agent? Where was he when he was holding newspaper and magazine clippings about the Nicaragua efforts? Would that stuff even be published yet?
  • I really thought Reed was gonna kill the DEA agent. He definitely doesn't need her around.
  • Unc, Auntie and Leon are the team and it's a strong one. I love it! Can't wait for the hardbody activities they get into next season.
  • Alton smiling at Franklin on some "How you doing?" Shyt was hilarious. It's like the subtext is, "I'm doing great, back in your mother's loving arms and juicy box." :mjlit: I would have thrown a fit to Franklin. lol

No Whammies!!
:wow:

i was hoping they were going to add the blood/crips aspect to the show through the prison.

I'm not an expert on gangs, but having seen the "b*stards of the Party" documentary once I was surprised how little gangs factored into this show at all. I suspect that they might be making an artistic choice to show us a more "idealized" version of what California was like before Franklin's rise. It's all Yacht Rock and R&B music, sunny skies, bright colors, and palm trees. Then as the years go by we'll see that he's personally responsible for twisting that world through the version seen in "Colors" until we end up in the dark (visually, not just subject-wise) world of "Deep Cover" (and its theme music).

Avi didn't have any kind of secret identity, and Franklin has been working with him for months if not years by now. He found out that Avi was a major arms dealer in Central America. Something like that probably would make the papers, he's semi-legitimate/tolerated like Nicholas Cage in "Lord of War". Since he knows Reed has influence with both Avi and the DEA and court system, he figured he had to connected to both the government and Avi's world.

So the newspaper/magazine clips were about Avi and his arms deals and he then connected the dots?

Look at how powerful the artwork is from season 1 to season 2. It said it all without saying shyt.

Peep how Leon is always on his right. Kev is barely in that last pic.

I think so:
I'm ready when you are, Reed.
You see, for years,
the U.S. been fighting a
covert war in Nicaragua,
trying to stop the Communists.
Avi's been smuggling foreign-made arms
from the Middle East to
Panama on Reed's behalf.
We talking tens of millions
of dollars' worth
Enough to fight an entire fukkin' war.

I don't think our Mr. Reed Thompson's
just some drug dealer.
I think he works for the government.
And now
well, I think we work for him.

One thing that has been consistent throughout the entire show is how smart Franklin is. He making some mistakes, as to be expected because this is a new type of hustle for him. But he is GREAT at reading people.

I felt myself tense up when Franklin was jumped and again when I saw dude rip his bedsheets. :francis:
I worked at County for awhile so seeing those images brought back memories.

But I was filled with pride when he left solitary. He had some pep in his step and spoke to RayRay with confidence. It was a PROMISE.

I dont care for Reed, Lucia/Gustavo storylines but I know they serve a purpose. Whatever.

I stopped watching Snowfall in the middle of Season 1 after the rape episode. I have watched all of season 2 though. The show has definitely picked up and Im excited to see what season 3 has in store.
