Jinder never was the central focus of the show so he had little to do with the ratings. Those half empty arenas while he's been Champion however are another story.
Keep in mind this is merely a numbers comparison using two first time champions who are polar opposites...but I'm glad you brought something up.
If ratings can't be attributed to the champion, then surely attendance also can't be attributed right?
I mean if he has nothing to do with ratings and isn't the central focus, how does he have anything to do with attendance?
Jinder isn't all over the show. He usually doesn't have a match and tends to have one segment that doesn't go too long and more often than not, it's earlier in the show. This has been a pattern during the last 20 weeks. You know what else has been a pattern? Guys like AJ Styles and Kevin Owens among other faves being in higher profile segments and main events over the last 20 weeks.
So that begs the question, if guys like AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and other faves are in the high profile segments and main event each week...and the audience knows it's going to be them and not Jinder...aren't those wrestlers to blame for the low attendance? Keep it 6 more than 94, why isn't AJ selling out arenas? Why aren't people rushing out to see Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode? Kevin Owens whoops Vince McMahon's ass and bloodies him...yet the rating AND attendance went down the next week? This dude can't bump numbers for doing THAT? Can't forget this big feud with Shane resulting in a main event Hell in a Cell match didn't sell out arenas either.
I brought this up before and it fell on deaf ears. Folks in the arena are feeling these indy/international cats but the folks at home don't seem to be.
