I don't understand how SD can have low numbers. If people watch Raw, they should watch SD. It's the same company, but different wrestlers.

Please, no stan war replies.

Raw has been THE main show of WWF/E for more than 2 decades, and THE main show of wrestling for more than a decade. Is it on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday? Nope, always been Monday at the same time.

Even when you are choosing to attend a show, if you are going to any, it's going to be Raw. Raw will always have the better crowds, which helps it come across on TV as the "A" show.

When they did the last brand split, they made a solid attempt to equalize the shows, but they slowly reverted back putting all their favorites on Raw, which is why Cena became a "free agent".

Jinder never was the central focus of the show so he had little to do with the ratings. Those half empty arenas while he's been Champion however are another story.
Keep in mind this is merely a numbers comparison using two first time champions who are polar opposites...but I'm glad you brought something up.

If ratings can't be attributed to the champion, then surely attendance also can't be attributed right?

I mean if he has nothing to do with ratings and isn't the central focus, how does he have anything to do with attendance?

Jinder isn't all over the show. He usually doesn't have a match and tends to have one segment that doesn't go too long and more often than not, it's earlier in the show. This has been a pattern during the last 20 weeks. You know what else has been a pattern? Guys like AJ Styles and Kevin Owens among other faves being in higher profile segments and main events over the last 20 weeks.

So that begs the question, if guys like AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and other faves are in the high profile segments and main event each week...and the audience knows it's going to be them and not Jinder...aren't those wrestlers to blame for the low attendance? Keep it 6 more than 94, why isn't AJ selling out arenas? Why aren't people rushing out to see Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode? Kevin Owens whoops Vince McMahon's ass and bloodies him...yet the rating AND attendance went down the next week? This dude can't bump numbers for doing THAT? Can't forget this big feud with Shane resulting in a main event Hell in a Cell match didn't sell out arenas either.

I brought this up before and it fell on deaf ears. Folks in the arena are feeling these indy/international cats but the folks at home don't seem to be.

Jinder Mahal being the champion has everything to do with the B show perception issue the show has, regardless of the substance of the actual show. In pro wrestling, perception and how things “seem” are everything and appears to be lost with vince who once mastered the business. Long heel title reigns never really worked in WWE and it’s shown itself over again.

Final numbers of my comparison. The record books will show that Smackdown Live with Jinder Mahal as WWE Champion had consistently better viewership than with AJ Styles as WWE Champion.

Smackdown Live viewership with AJ Styles as WWE Champion
1: 2.658 million viewers
2: 2.292 million viewers
3: 2.340 million viewers
4: 2.316 million viewers
5: 2.448 million viewers
6: 2.405 million viewers
7: 2.127 million viewers
8: 2.187 million viewers
9: 1.921 million viewers
10: 2.725 million viewers
11: 2.505 million viewers
12: 2.576 million viewers
13: 2.479 million viewers
14: 2.361 million viewers
15: 2.637 million viewers
16: 2.885 million viewers

17: 2.59 million viewers
18: 2.53 million viewers
19: 2.65 million viewers
20: 2.56 million viewers

Smackdown Live viewership with Jinder Mahal as WWE Champion

8: 2.465 million viewers
9: 2.548 million viewers

10: 2.535 million viewers
11: 2.569 million viewers
12: 2.584 million viewers
13: 2.530 million viewers
14: 2.685 million viewers

15: 2.455 million viewers
16: 2.582 million viewers
17: 2.754 million viewers
18: 2.510 million viewers
19: 2.542 million viewers
20: 2.323 million viewers
-End of Comparison-
21: 2.467 million viewers

AJ's Highest Rating: 2.885
AJ's Lowest Rating: 1.921

Jinder's Highest Rating: 2.754
Jinder's Lowest Rating: 2.072

AJ Styles became champion in September. From September-November 2016, every show on television was negatively affected by 2016 election coverage. Week 9 of your projection was clearly Election Day. Secondly comparing WWE ratings from September-January for one and from May-September to another is dumb knowing WWE audience trends.

Just because they're apart of the same company doesn't mean it's ran the same & by the same people.

Raw is better than smackdown because they use their best assets(the ones that matter the most) in the correct manner.

Another thing is that RAW is the legacy of the wwe.

You know how when people bring up wcw the first thing they think of is those wcw nitro highlights.

Yeah like it's like that.

Smackdown is wcw thunder status aka forgettable.

No Stannery here but Raw is the WWE. Smack down is a good show, sometimes a better show, but it's got a shyt legacy as the B show and there's nothing that can change that.

No stannery in this post at all. Raw will always been the A show cause it created 1st and is shown the first day of the week. SD has flat out been better than Raw for huge chunks of it's inception, but will always been the "B" show because of the previous point. They could have Brock, Cena, HHH, and Braun and would still be considered the lesser of the two due to history. It's almost like a Nike and Adidas comparison. All those other posts that @Here Comes the Pain mostly makes are just blind stanning :mjlol:
