This update is sounding amazing. Custom wallpaper was my most missed feature from PS3. If the boost mode gives substantial improvements then the Pro is even better than what the dissenters say.

XB1 didn't have a boost mode option. There was just very few games that saw very slight(at times negligible) fps increases due to the small clock speed boost.

In real terms, not much, at least right now. Digital Foundry conducted some scientifically rigorous testing on both consoles and found, at the absolute most, the Xbox One S could be 9fps faster than than Xbox One. This is rare, though: most of their findings show the Xbox One S having a sub-3fps advantage over the Xbox One.

Basically a 7.1 percent cpu speed increase.

Compare with the PS4 Pro which got a 30% CPU boost and the GPU is Polaris(AMD architecture) which again the XB1s doesn't have. The XB1s CPU boost was literally an attempt to try to keep up with the base PS4.

just wish theyd include an option where you could change the appearance of how games and menus are sorted. I prefer the old ps3 menu sort honestly. Vertical >horizontal

A lot of new games are gonna have pro mode from now on so it's not a bad time to buy one. I've seen a bunch of deals where you get some free games with it too on ebay.
