Because there are multiple entrances to Truth that the killer could have escaped from (as we saw) and would have to explain what Saxe was doing at the club that night to help her up.
Dre’s death gives them a convenient out from having to explain the logic along with it.

It was the most obvious choice and those people were thinking there had to be a curveball........because why else would they be so heavy handed? Once Tariq talked about Breeze with his Pops, we all knew.
In some ways, I would have preferred the curveball because they made it way too obvious to make us sit through 5 episodes.

the only reason people threw out those names was because of this silly 5 episode arc where you just knew that there had to be a curveball if they were going to waste your time doing this. last season had some straight filler episodes and all of these could've been collapsed (stop playing the same 3 days from multiple angles) fit within the 10 episodes they regularly do, or at most an extended 12 episode season that just wrapped in november....but starz needs the subscribersNAH THESE FINAL 6 EPISODES SAVED THE SEASON AND LETS NOT PRETEND

Not only is he portrayed as a one man army, who's resourceful enough to get an ambulance any time he wants(where does he keep it)... he stays with a fresh cut, clean shave, and piff clothes, while showing no fawks given after doing dirt against street nikkas and mob..atleast look over your shoulders once in awhile for some realism
No air bag deployment or concussion signs after smashing into 2 cars. smh
..still enjoyed episode

two other moments i'm laughing at in retrospect:
1. the hitters gettin the drop on ghost and somehow losing somebody. Then the lil shyt got the nerve to call tate talmbout "IT WAS AN AMBUSH" tate told y'all lil stupid asses to back down AND you missed the shot when you had the chance? tuff, my guy.
2. Tasha calling James a monster and James turning around like "ay yo first kill was ya best friend, how'd that feel? all i did was shoot up my homie's mustang"
Also at least Ghost called her out for not loving him but instead loving the lifestyle when all he wanted to do was escape a game most don't survive

Hm. I feel like based on how much a place like Truth SHOULD be worth in a place like NYC, that's still bonkers. I get what you're saying about the inheritance and needing the favor. I had already thought of that aspect. I wasn't lost on why she asked for the favor with his schooling.
But just how much money she's likely passing up also is crazy. She wasn't negotiating against a Sterns who was playing hardball yet. He didn't say "I can help Tariq and you give me the whole club" -- she did that. Even if she negotiated for half of the estimated worth of Truth, AND got the favor for Tariq to help them it would have made more sense to me.
It seemed...an unambitious agreement for her at best. But hey.
