Is Fishtown the new hot spot in the city? What's up there that everyone keeps talking about it?

Did Manayunk fall off? Back in the 2000s and early 2010s, that was the best part of the city to bar hop.

In gentrifying Philly, speculators pay heirs peanuts — then flip their properties for massive gains

Two young black men flipping properties in Philly have made $4 million.

They getting folks to sell property for 6K or 14K then flipping a few days later to sell at over 100K.

Is this problematic coooning (we know the folks they finessing look like them, almost guaranteed) or just young entrepreneurial black men self empowering themselves through American style capitalism? :jbhmm:

I bet it ain't as sweet now trying to get those rock bottom prices

Damn, I didn't know this many people on our board lived in Philly...

I live in philly, graduated from Upenn in 2008....DJ in a lot of the big clubs.

I had some of the best nights of my life at the 40th street Marathon grill/Marbar.....so sad it closed. There's a new restaurant there now.

Marbar used to the SPOT...and it's a great location

I remember when John legend and Alicia Keys threw an afterparty there in the 2000s

Also remember when Temple had an alumni party there a few yrs ago

What are some reasonably priced hotels in the area? Should I opt for AirBnB instead?

Thinking about hitting up The Roots Picnic in June with a lady friend up there I’ve been wanting to mess with for the longest (she’s from Northeast Philly). She’s living with family out in Bensalem (I think that’s the name) so I can’t really crash at her crib for that weekend. What’s the best way to get to Fairmount Park?

How lively is Philly during The Roots Picnic both day and night?

AirBnB would be a good bet and you can get bang for your buck...might want something in West Philly or closer to Center City

Take an uber/lyft to the Roots Picnic

It's gonna be warm out...after the picnic, go to the AirBnB, both of y'all freshen up, go out to dinner, and then hit up downtown (Ashton Cigar Bar for the cigars & scotch/bourbon/whiskey)...maybe check back in on here in a few wks to have a better idea of what's going on that weekend

Don't go to no hood bars if you're an outta towner

@Sankofa Alwayz, hotels by the convention center are decently priced (Sheraton 4 points) albeit a lil janky in the surrounding neighborhood after 8 PM.

You could always stay out by the airport for cheaper hotels, you just definitely would need a car. The Aloft tends to be pretty reasonable.

Ashton is my spot whenever I come back to Philly. My homie is the head bouncer at Ladder 15, so I always hit that up downtown if you tryna turn up.
