Episode 9 was waaay too dark for me. shyt hit home. I got a brother with drug and mental issues and I’m always worried about his wellbeing when he has episodes that keep him out in the streets. No way in hell I could just give my bro to the game like that. This shyt legit ruined my night right before bed

That bytch Helen got all she deserved :banderas:

The Byrd’s gotta go too. Wouldn’t even blame Jonah for going all Menendez on them.

Ruth and Darlene on the home team :ehh:

Season 4 is so far away :sadcam:

its a great show and well written, still entertaining. but this season was just too dark and gloomy for me. thats what separates a show like this from Breaking Bad. that shyt was dark as fukk too but it just had such so many comedic moments to periodically lift your spirits. Ozark had some moments like that in the first two seasons but this season it was gloom all the way. I mean there was nothing cheerful in this season at all that I can recall except Ruth finding love and we see how that turned out.

Jonah not getting no play from the chick. no being able to help the family with his genius talents.
Wyatt and Darlene :scust:
the Therapist
Charlotte despite being older being insignificant
KC "mob" being a bunch of herbs
Wendy doing the Avon move
Helen pretty much being a dummy in the end

but mostly, I expected more out of Tom Pelphrey who is an excellent actor and Joseph Sikora characters. When I saw their first appearances I was like :mjlit:

they gave good performances but their characters werent complex and didnt serve much of a purpose except to expose how wack KC mob was and to see what limits Wendy would go to.

to top it off they are enslaved to a cartel boss who is getting getting his ass handed to him and getting softer by the minute
agree with it being too dark. IMO a weekly series can work better being unrelentingly dark as you clearly have time between episodes, but Netflix series where you’re just going to binge, these has to be a little levity. I hope the Ruth-lene squad next season brings some more comedic moments.

Unrelated:
I’m very interested in where they go with Jonah. We’ve seen him evolve from weirdo loner freak to understanding the game while still being a good kid, but at this point, he’s either bout to go rogue or become a hitter for the fam. I hope they give him some focus and development next season.

Havent read the thread.
Im on episode 9 now. Im really hoping this comes together. Because the Beb character is almost child like. I know bi-polar people and they are nothing lome this. Im hoping there is a point to this.

you trying to tell me that he doesnt get that him snitching has ni consequences? I just really trying to make sense of this.
Yea, while he played the hell out of that role, I think this was more a schizophrenic break than bipolar episode

It's no more believable than Breaking Bad, which became a cartoon:mjlol:
i feel you but when talking about dramas, i make a distinction between believable and realistic. To me realistic means a close to real life it is (if it could happen). Believable on the other hand i mean more as far as the universe they created, evolution of characters and the way the interact with each other, power dynamics, etc if their actions are consistent within all of it. In that sense, i feel like breaking bad is more believable overall. Game of thrones is believable in the beginning and becomes rediculous by the end yet i would say GoT's first few seasons are more believable than Ozark. Ozark and Breaking Bad are more realistic than GoT though.

It seems like most shows are believable in the beginning and get crazy towards the end. We can say the same thing about the wire.

definitely. Staying consistent in characters motivations and in the ways they communicate with eachother while also keeping the story fresh and unpredictable while also dealing with executives telling you how they want the story to go, which characters they want more of, what type of avtion they want more of etc... Amd all this of multiple seasons...it eventually becomes an impossible balancing act.

What’s the most believable series u ever saw. For me it’s the wire I’ve even seen spots like HAmsterdam where the cops know what’s going on but don’t be tripping. Season 5 was wild fake tho
