It's too early to judge her character, the show just started. She clearly as an arc, but I agree, White people tend to fail at writing Black characters. This is because they don't try, they don't get invested in characters that don't look like them.

Does that excuse actually fly here though? Nothing about the character will probably ever touch on race in any real way so there is no need to have specifically black writers.

Not at all, this episode was pure shyt.
The story doesn't make any sense, lazy and uninspired directing. This show looks cheap as hell.
