It comes from the originals.

The Emperor wanted Luke to take out Vader, Vader wanted Luke to help him take out the Emperor.

"Always two..."

It makes perfect sense, considering the greed of the Sith.

On the series: loving it so far. The action is still a bit clunky (exception being the Order 66 scene) but adding Leia was a genius move. That would be the reason Obi-Wan would leave his watch over Luke. It even ties more into her naming her son Ben in the movies that shall not be named.

Reva is cool, she has potential so I'm hoping for the best. Ewan was always piff and continues to be so, loving the bridge to the slow/calmer Obi-Wan of Alec Guinness.

That’s a retcon. The rule of 2 was made up for the Phantom Menace, which didn’t really make sense with the whole “bring balance to the Force” angle they were going for. Plus that rule was worked around in novels and animated series. Sidius was an apprentice when he also had Maul as one…Tyranus had apprentices like Ventress…just an unnecessarily limited “rule” that’s been treated more like a guideline anyway

And there can technically be more than 2, because you're always looking for a replacement. It may only be for a brief moment, but a master to train an apprentice, so that the Sith live on...but the master is always searching for the strongest apprentice to take their place.

Unnecessarily limited “rule” that’s been treated more like a guideline anyway

Revas origins are way too obvious, I hope they plan on throwing the viewers another curveball

The first 2 episodes were good tho, I kinda wish they would stop relying on child sidekicks but it's Disney so I get it.

The last scene on Ep2 was perfect :ohlawd:, the look on Obi-Wan's face when he found out was :wow:

Also that hoping around Reva did on those building was hilarious and she still didn't catch him :russ:

Agreed. The one youngling that happens to be a little black girl who is framed in the center of every shot she was in or stood taller when the others were crouching down and also wearing a louder color than the others.

I’m amazed by Disneys refusal to even slightly separate any story they create from the original trilogy. Could have taken this Obi story anywhere in the galaxy and they decided to immediately go to a Leia kidnapping story. Couldn’t even give you one unrelated standalone episode. :snoop:

I think you can expect less Skywalker saga in the future…

I'm enjoying it so far. Young Leia is probably the standout character.

Hopefully Reva's backstory isn't something petty like "Obi-Wan was mean to me when I was a Padawan".

It obvious....obi wan trained Darth Vader and he killed everybody

If it was anything else would be shocked

Quick question, is this show suitable for a 10 year old? I'll probably watch it first before he does anyway but wanted to get a consensus.
I watched with my 8 year old. Nothing particularly alarming about anything in the first couple episodes.

Bad enough to lean in on the whole Lone Wolf & Cub theme for yet another show...but to continue with the low budget antics is worse. People who clearly can't act, action scenes looking like they used the worst possible out of three, and hoping fan service will paper over everything.

I hope you fellas aren't actually paying for this. I truly do.
I thought it was just me. I thought the acting was pretty terrible. McGregor is fine. I can even accept old man Jimmy Smits. Everyone else‘s performance felt forced. Flea is a bounty hunter?:mjlol: Lucasfilm must have a thing for Bassists!

It's ok so far. I like Moses Ingram(Reva), but I feel like they should have made her the lead of another series. She will probably be wasted here.

I dunno I feel like my current exhaustion with this franchise and it's fanbase hampers any enjoyment I can get from these shows going forward. They really need to drastically inject some freshness, and some changes into this series pronto. I'm sick of Skywalkers.

Yeah, it's definitely more of a guideline than a rule. Whenever there is more than 2, they always gang up to take out the weakest link. But they must always have an apprentice to ensure that the Sith live on. And since there must be an apprentice, there can be more than 2. Hell, Palpatine kept an apprentice in the bullpen. The story goes that when there was 100s of Sith, all of the backstabbing and selfishness cause so much in-fighting anyway, they decided to limit their ranks.

But in all honesty, everything in Star Wars is a retcon per se. The story is writing itself, which is a testament to how great the OG idea is.

It’s been one since the first sequel (ESB) :heh:

Ehh it’s hella mid so far, should’ve known Disney couldn’t resist throwing in the female importance angle. It’s only two eps so I’ll hold off on shytting on the show.

Yeah, I was wondering what folks thought about Reva’s acting so far:patrice:
I’m pulling for her but I felt a little cringe during some of her lines:francis:
Hopefully she gets better
Rooting for her, but yea

I think the last time I saw an actor struggle early but eventually become great in a role was Michonne (Dania Gurira) So its not impossible that she improves, but I cant defend her at the moment.
