With AZ I could mayyybeeee see it since he’s from Brooklyn and actually knew Jay-Z before rap so perhaps he could relate to Jay-Z’s persona. That plus he and Nas have never been the best of friends that fans just assumed they were because they have chemistry on wax.

With Rae and Ghost both of them have said Nas is the greatest so many times I just chalk it up to them not wanting to hurt Jay’s feelings that day lol. Ghost especially calls Nas the greatest at almost every opportunity.

Large Professor there is no excuse. But he and Nas have had qQa weird relationship the last couple years. Seems like Large undercover feels like Nas owes him something and is a little resentful that he’s not part of Nas inner circle.

Az talking jay above the guy that give him a shot to get to the industry and still invite him on big venues and put him in the only Grammy album he ever gonna be, not to mentions the features ? Even if it's an industry friend that's weird

For rae and ghost you don't see cats try to spare Nas' feelings by choosing him other jay so this reasoning is bullshyt too if that was the case. Most of them didn't want to get on jay bad side for business reason

Nas is literally credited on Just Cruisin and Chasing Forever.

Big Willie Style lyrics

“From civllians to stars they want to know who we are
It's me big Will NAS ESCOBAR J.L. Omar
Carry money bags collect the chips then we all quick to exit”

On the subject of Getting Jiggy With It

Nas is credited in the CD booklet (yes, I have it) on Just Cruisin', Chasing Forever, and Yes Yes Ya'll. Wikipedia shows him as credited on Big Willie Style but he's not in the booklet or on the streaming version as I double-checked this stuff last night. That said I would be shocked if he didn't help on Big Willie Style and maybe others. Will Smith is also credited as a writer and he has always maintained Nas just helped him write them, which sounds accurate to me, with him helping enough on some to get a full credit.

Seems pretty open and shut that Nas had a lot to do with Jiggy then based on the Trackmasters. Should've got the credit on that, that was the big moneymaker over the album cuts.

I’ve never ever EVER heard Primo throw shade at Nas. What did he say?

Preemo had a phase where he was commenting on Nas and Jay not choosing any of his beats for their albums. He very specifically said he "had to make peace with not understanding how Nas selects beats". Think this was the SD timeline.

A lot of Big Willie Style does sound like Nas but a lot of it sounds like bro from Camp Lo too, I don’t know his name but go check “Yes Yes Yall”, I actually think that’s him on there saying “and ya don’t stop.” He is dumb nice

According to Stoute, Nas didn’t want anything to do with Getting Jiggy With It, Stoute had to convince him to keep writing it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Nas just didn’t take the credit for it the way Coko didn’t take credit for the Men In Black hook or appear in the video.

There was a lot of trepidation around being too commercial or attaching oneself to a Will Smith comeback album. Even the Trackmasters weren’t sure it would pop. The fact that Big Willy Style did 10 Million in sales and Jiggy became a huge hit wasn’t a foregone conclusion, even though the Men In Black soundtrack was a huge hit the year before.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that was a shot just Premo coming to grips with not being the go too guy anymore. Dude was on both Nas and Jay’s first four albums so to go from that to literally NOTHING with either of them after the early 2000’s must have been a bitter pill to swallow.

I remember Jay being asked why he doesn’t work with Premo around the time American Gangster dropped and he said “Just Blaze is the new Premier”. I thought that was a bit disrespectful at the time but Blaze WAS Jay’s guy so it makes sense.

💯 And now with hindsight we know that this is how Nas functions best, when he finds a muse and locks in. He's at his "worst" when it's a bit all over the place.

Illmatic being the grand exception, ironically.

Nas has talked about how his social awkwardness has led to mass misunderstandings between him and people he was close with. And I think that partly explains the DrinkChamps stuff, and Jadakiss comment on how Nas is his favorite artist..."but I can get Jay on the phone right now".

That second of verse of Stay is just so damn nasty:

Even though I don't like you
Next Friday night can't wait to fight you
Locked up I would knife you, don't fukk with you
Last month I even bucked at you, you got locked
I felt bad, wait, do I got love for you?
I might kill you but do I got love for you?
I want you dead under six feet of soil
At the same time, want you here to witness me while you in misery
We hate each other but it's love, what a thug mystery
Years ago they ate the hearts of a slain enemy
We enemies but your hatred could never enter me
Some seek fame 'cause they need validation
Some say hating is confused admiration
Spotlight on me, I still look twenty
Still get money, lady killer pushing a Bentley
Maybe nikkas could see too much of their failures
Through a nikka who realer
I don't like you near bruh, but I need you to
Stay

That Jay comment is crazy to me, I remember Premo submitting a beat for American Gangster that Jay passed on. It eventually became Ill Bill's "Society is Brainwashed."

Yeah, Camp Lo had a featuring credit on that song and Nasir Jones had a writing credit.

Premier is also notoriously late to sessions he's missed deadlines for albums Jay's for example

I could see this.

Men In Black dropped the same year as Big Willie Style.
