If you really listen to the last 3 songs on ‘I Am’ you can hear the progression of Nas hip hop journey through the guise of relationships.

The first is a childish fantasy view of a music artist and everything he thinks he wants, it’s an innocent perfection in his mind but he does learn at the end of the song that it often pushes or tricks you into being dark too please her. The industry is kinda weird.

The second is the introduction to the money he receives when he does please her, he’s submitted to the dark side of the industry for the financial gain. “And gladly I take you as my lawfully wedded wife” in this song there’s no mention of the first love on the previous track. Nas has lost his way but doesn’t really recognize.

The third, as we know starts with Nas living the fake “Pacino life, G a roll, Casino Dice” money has totally consumed him but he’s wrestling with his conscience. He yearns to return home to the roots of his love. “Already miss NY and it’s odd”, Nas realizes that he has totally lost himself and has just been playing a role but they “telling my wife who I was dancing with like I was fukkin”, he’s still true to hip hip.

We all know how the final song ends. The original vision goes right into Nas facing the fact that he’s been pushing poison, repenting and eventual rebirth. Nas fully remembers and promises never forget the true reason he wanted to be an MC

Speaking of unreleased. How on earth did Nas not put this on the actual album for life is good and why didn’t he work with boi ida more after this beat???

I might be biased but solo shyt has to matter ain't no way Andre should be ranked that high before Scarface for example. Then Big Boi diminished like he has been. Hell the only solo song on Outkast best album Aquemini is West Savannah which you guessed is a Big Boi solo. Dre raps once every 3 to 5 years I think Biggie has more verses total & he been gone for 28 years

It doesn’t matter, and that’s okay. People argue endlessly about the best NBA and NFL players, these aren’t based on whole 1-on-1, but moments and stats accomplished while these players are on a team. People/fans are going to cherish what touches them the most.

Great track but where does it fit on the album?

Can't really see a place for it without the sequencing taking a major hit.

Wheres The Love or Roses should've replaced Summer on Smash & the album transitions much smoother track to track.

Rapping about a doctor planning to killing his ex-wife & then a minute later i hear Miguel shouting "Bad bytches, champagne wishes" or whatever the fukk he said with 1 of the worst Swizz Beats production I've ever heard might be worst transitions my ears have heard.
