Those are all time Nas songs tho. I think the take is goofy imo. Even his take on I Am was off base. I’m kinda tired of the revisionist history when it comes to that shyt. And in reality. People were hype as fukk off Hate Me Now. Nas Is Like was considered amazing but Hate Me Now is the first song Flex ever dropped bombs on.

Listening to Ghetto Prisoners now.. man, this shyt aged so well. One thing is Nas never used trendy beats, so as your ears change over years you hear shyt different. Hard to explain, but songs never sound dated

The only thing with I Am... is that over time, Nas just dropped better albums. So while, I Am... is a dope album in his catalog (even has higher highs that some of the albums that are placed over it).

I would have loved to see the double album come to fruition, but I could see the double album catching flack because of the incredibly high standard Nas is held to and the immediate comparisons to Life After Death.

I am my fav Nas album bc that’s the era I really started to get into hip hop on my own…so it’s dark and hell is hot, I am, capital punishment, etc we’re the first cds I bought with my own money. People underestimate the emotional connection ppl form with albums/music and how that influences their preferences. It may not technically be his best, but the feeling it gave me *pause* overrides that

And if my girl with me or if i'm in the mood, You Won't See me Tonight stay in the rotation too. It's a crime they didn't make that song a big single after Hate me Now and Nas is Like
