Billboard stopped counting bundles towards album sales after Nicki Minaj's last album fukkery....in 2018. Has nothing to do with Nas being singled out. Billboard recently revised the rule and as of last month has started counting bundles again. So all the recent Nas albums came at a time when bundles were not being counted. To make her claims sound even dumber, I'm pretty sure Nas didn't have any Kings Disease tours announced for any of those albums. The entire point of the bundles was to put your tour on sale shortly before an album release, and anyone who bought tickets would count as an album sale in the first week. So she's complaining about something that his team didn't even attempt to do.

I simply refuse to believe Nas is delusional about sales and expects big numbers in 2021-2023, especially given the complete lack of promo on at least two of the albums (Magic, KD3). And I refuse to believe that the big "appeal to young/new fans" move Nas decided on was doing some soundtrack songs instead of, you know, getting big young artists on his albums to increase sales. Kodak has been saying he wants to work with Nas, Drake has tried to get a Nas verse, Kendrick shares the same manager as Nas, SZA is a Nas fan, Cole apologized to Nas and presumably wants to work with him again, Tyler is a big Nas fan, Schoolboy Q said Nas is his favorite rapper, etc. Lot of people WANT to work with him.

It's not that "Nas fans aren't up on streaming" either, it's that older artists/legacy artist fans aren't up on streaming. Older fans prefer to just buy an album and they aren't using Spotify. Which is why whenever an old rock, pop, metal, etc band drops a new album you see the physical sales are way higher than the streams whereas it's the opposite for younger artists. I also never see legacy acts complaining about album sales.

Anyone think Dave gives a shyt? I don't lol. That band will do what they always do: tour and make a killing. Which is also what Nas is doing, and why I seriously doubt he's sitting around on the road crying about sales. This is her, not Nas' sentiment.

Like I said there’s clearly a disconnect between Nas inner circle and the “outer” circle. Nas has said multiple times for multiple years that he knows “how” to play the game IF he “wants” to play the game.

This is a man who scrapped entire albums produced by Timabland and Swizz Beatz. If sells were his primary focus those albums would have BEEN released

You're right breh if you listen to what she says for 10 mins you can tell it's more of a "her" issue.

If Nas just swapped his features out on KD1 there’s easily platinum singles right on that. Put Drake instead of Big Sean. Put Cardi B on Spicy. Have her do the hook. Put Jigga on 27 Summers. shyt he could’ve even put Kendrick on Rare from KD2. The whole sales trajectory of his shyt would’ve been completely different.
Nas would never work with Nicky enemy bro..lol

Nas wouldnt even want that type of messy shyt attached to him

I’m sure Kendrick and Cole would do a Nas feature for a discount IF not free. Especially Cole.

Also to the second point. Nas himself said “Much success to you even if you wish me the opposite/sooner or later we’ll all see who the prophet is”

It Was Written was supposed to be some type of Pop sell out album. Twenty years later there’s a valid argument that its better than Ilmatic and all of the bigger stars of the genre to come have cited it as hugely influential to their careers even MORESO than Illmatic (Lupe Fiasco, Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar) it went from a dismissal 2 star review from Rolling Stone in 96 to being listed in their top 200 hip hop albums of all time.

I Am portrayed Nas on its cover as an Egyptian Pharaoh. 25 years later the cover is on display in a European museum as a piece of art.

Hate Me Now was released as a single April 6th, 1999. 25 years later its being used as the trailer theme for a major motion picture Gran Turismo

Nas got No I.D. to help spearhead an album about aging, the ups and downs of marriage, love, loss, child rearing, and maturity and made it relatable to audiences both young and old. Six years later Jay-Z recruits No I.D. To help spearhead an album about aging, the ups and downs of marriage, love, loss, child rearing and maturity and made it relatable to audiences both young and old

Almost everything Nas does in some shape or fashion either inspires or is admired years later. His music and message are built to last.

Who gives a fukk what Nicki thinks? She married a rapist and had a kid. What would be “messy” about him working with Cardi besides the extra work involved having to pen her verse?

Only thing that might be different now with Nas is that he is actually head of a label, so maybe sales and things like that mean more than we think. But I could be wrong.

Yeah but i think Nas still has respect for her either way, from what i see her and Destiny still be liking each other posts, i don't think Nas would collabo with Cardi for that reason, she's only ever spoke well of him also.

Eh thats all well and good but I highly doubt Nas would be the type to let business or a feature he wanted be stopped by an ex flame, one whose very much married and moved on.

I doubt Cole/Kendrick/Drake would even charge him tbh. When it's respect and an OG artist who is in the mix like that, they usually aren't getting charged. Flip side I can def see someone like Cardi charging lmao.

Durk was on the first King's Disease and I doubt he got paid some crazy amount, if anything. And remember at the time Durk was going around saying how big of a Nas fan he was.

Nas and Nicky not together, but its mutual respect. I dont know how else to say it.

It just would never happen..
