He was annointed from the jump. It's like they all seen it coming and he lived up to the expectations. It's a rare thing to see. Only seen it happen a couple of times: Nas, Lebron James, Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, Kobe Bryant. They were blessed from the jump and their careers lived up to the impossible hype.

Good list and it's just about time to add.....

Do you think Nas was top ten by 2002, or do you agree with Nas that it was premature to say? He had multiple classics by then and was coming off a historic diss battle victory.

By 02 he was top ten and HE knew it he was just being modest.

Illmatic- Needs no introduction

It Was Written- Number 1 for FOUR CONSECUTIVE WEEKS on the Billboard 200. Double Platinum. Made Nas a superstar

I Am/Nastradamus- Uneven but still its TWO platinum albums in one year. Only DMX the year before had accomplished that.

Stillmatic- Classic comeback. Defeated Jay-Z in a classic battle. Double platinum. Critically acclaimed.

Gods Son- Excellent album. Critically acclaimed. Platinum certified. Nas was so hot in 2002 that Columbia put out Lost Tapes earlier in the year to capitalize and THAT collection of loosies is considered a classic.

Nas’s status amongst his peers, coupled with his success, laying the smackdown on Jay-Z, and consistency was enough for top ten placement. Probably in the 5-7 category.

It was so great seeing 70's,80's,90's and the 2000's babies at MSG. :wow:
I sat behind two parents there with their teenage son and the kid seemed just as geeked as them. The vibe I got was two parents put their son onto Nas and he became a big fan, so they presented him the tickets on some ":obama:It's time"
