What does he say? I lowkey always messed with Irv, mainly his bro, but his recent behaviors disgusted me too much to actually give him a click, lol.

He only wants Nas spitting that gutter street corner shyt. He doesn’t like pro-black positive Nas. Says that Illmatic is the greatest debut album ever and Made You Look is the greatest rap single ever and that when Nas raps like that he’s the best

Nas talked about a producer who kind of mocked him for making conscious songs. He didn't name names, but implied it was a big name. Irv may not be as big of a name as he once was, but I wonder if he's the producer Nas was talking about. It would make sense because it looked like Nas was about to sign with The Inc, but then it was like "The Pledge" remix never happened. I don't think Nas ever mentioned it or even referenced The Inc (aside from "The G.O.D." bonus track and "Honeymoon Is Over (My Will)" unreleased song from God's Son). It would make sense if Irv's mentality towards Nas' music is what caused Nas to distance himself.

Most of my cousins and old homies back in the day feel exactly, 1000% the same about Nas so I won’t even knock him for his preference

Can't believe God's Son is 20 years old. One of my most anticipated albums ever. I was out of school that day. My grandma was sick. After visiting her in the hospital, I went and copped the album:

1. Get Down- 5/5 Classic Nas song

2. The Cross- 3.5/5. A lot of people hate it, but this was dope to me. Nas's lyrics, flow, and delivery were crazy on this. He carried the beat.

3. Made You Look- 5/5. Another classic

4. Last Real nikka Alive- 5/5. Classic

5. Zone Out- 1/5. Never liked this song

6. Hey Nas- 3.5/5. This was dope. Kind of reminded me of Toni Braxton's "Makin Me High". It had that late 90's R&B feel. Loved the flow on this.

7. I Can- 3.5/5. This wasn't one of my favorites, but it could be considered a classic I guess. Just not something I would rush to play from this album.

8. Book Of Rhymes- 5/5. One of the most unique rap songs ever. The last verse always gets me. The sound effects of the pages turning added to the feel of this song.

9. Thugs Mansion (NY)- 3.5/5. Both Nas verses were fire especially the last one. Some people forget this had a video.

10. Mastermind- 4.5/5. Fire.

11. Warrior's Song- 3.5. Nice collabo with Alicia Keys.

12. Revolutionary Warfare- 4/5. Fire. Nuff said. I remember there was a bit of controversy over the Ghandi lines, but he also had them on "Book Of Rhymes".

13. Dance- 4.5. Came to appreciate this more with time.

14. Heaven- 5/5. One of the best songs I ever heard. Considering what was going on at the time with my grandma, this song hit hardest. This one was more of tear jerker than "Dance".

The verdict- 4.04 out of 5 or pretty much a 4. This is probably the Nas album that I've revisited most. Is it his beat? No, but it's definitely one of the best. I remember Time Magazine had this as 2002's album of the year. 20 years later, I ain't mad at it.
