It’s funny cause Nas USED to champion that album more than Illmatic.
That's interesting, I wonder why it shifted. I get that Illmatic is Illmatic, and you can perform the entire album front/back. But there's an entire generation of rap fans who worship IWW. Imagine how butthurt
certain people are when Bron lists it as a top 5 rap album but...if you were a kid or teen when that album came out you probably fukked with it. And if you heard it after Stillmatic, like many younger people did, you love it too. Not to mention kids today who are discovering 90s mafioso rap shyt and think it's the coolest stuff ever. My little cousin is 100% on that Uzi/Durk/21 Savage/etc wave but he fukks with 90s mafioso/gangta shyt when I play it. Street Dreams, Incarcerated Scarfaces, D'Evils...these young dudes fukk with that shyt.
I also notice how these kids are so obsessed with who is really about that life, who really had opps etc etc...my cousin saw that Snoop vid about the Pac/Nas confrontation and now thinks Nas was the Godfather or some shyt lmao. I tried telling him Snoop may have exaggerated and played the Death Row East track, and he was like "nah Nas was just a being humble hitta and not trying to disrespect Pac in his story." I swear these kids wylin' with this kind of stuff.
