SINY!!
What's the over/under on Nasir being featured on the new album with expected heavy involvement from Hitboy dropping August 12th considering his rapport with the main artist as well as the title ? They got dope shyt together...
I think they will do a lot of cross promoting each other, (Nas and Game) considering Hit Boys involvement with both their projects

Nas can easily do 60K first week. KD 2 wasn’t far off from that number BUT the caveat is that Nas, sales wise, is an artist that benefits from a traditional roll out. That means 2-3 weeks notice, a single, video, and a promo run similar to what he did for KD1. He went on the Breakfast Club, he did a grouping of 15-20 minute interviews across other media, he promoted pretty heavily across social media. Hit-Boy also did a pretty good job promoting as well. They need a marketing PLAN.

Theoretically it should. KD 2 did a better first week than KD 1 and like I said we know why Magic did a low number and I feel you can disregard that as a sign.
I will say though this has been a strange year in terms of artists across the board other than maybe Future doing significantly lower numbers than their previous album (Kendrick, Drake, Joey Badass now). Not sure the reason but I will say though Nas has been releasing music quietly and building his buzz back up during the pandemic where maybe will check for him again. But who knows again, could be a million factors (I dont think inflation affects a $8 purchase or he streams enough to get a digital sale who knows) so it could go either way.

Regardless the impression I got was, Nas was free didnt care about sale and rollouts and just does him.

it's a tricky one for Nas and his team on sales/ type of songs/ promotion. he hovers between the bigger older artists (Jay Z, Em, Kanye) and the artists who have the 'hip hop head' following but never going to hit in the mainstream at this point in time again (Ghostface for example comes to mind). He'll get more streams than the latter but won't hit the heights of those big names

Personally if i was involved I'd try for a Kendrick feature on a single. The Eminem one for example was a one hit play. You'll get a streams bump but nothing long term from it at a bigger scale. Same goes if they went for Drake. Drake fans will check it but don't expect them to then invest time checking the whole album. Kendrick fans probably more likely to then listen to the whole album and Nas' wider catalogue given the similarities between the two. Lot of Kendrick fans will know Nas but just not checking for him.

In this era, you can have a major hit going the more conscious route and that suits Nas (One Mic, I Can). To me makes sense to go that way with a Kendrick feature for example over going the Spicy route where you're chasing a club/ street banger. Maybe they explored it but a video with Lauryn would have made total sense from KD2

That’s an interesting way to think about it. That’s not a bad idea.

Nas feat J.Cole or Kendrick as a lead single...... would create a big buzz for KD3...
J. Cole
Kendrick
Hov
Drake
Future
Travis Scott
Tyler

Those are the big names in hip-hop that would create buzz. I'm not putting Em here cause it's been done already recently and I don't see them working together again so soon.

I think y'all miss the point with Nas.

50% is due to his mystique. 50% is just some A&R fans wanting him to have a blockbuster sales album. Nas is very comfortable in his own skin bro. Nas will try experimental collabs before he will go for a big name just for sales. I dont know why people expect him to do that. I think Nas just wants to put out great projects, do his ventures and live life.

Im a die hard Nas fan. I buy the albums. His avg fan, not stans, AVG Fan just wants to hear a good quality album from him and purchase a ticket if he tours. They not gonna go all out streaming or even buy just so he has a huge first week.

Fully agree. That’s my view of how Nas sees it too. It’s reason he did Magic and reason KD1 and 2 had the rollout it had. He just wants to put out the music he wants to

My comment above was more in response to that Twitter account that claims to be in Nas’ team or linked to that is complaining about lack of streams. And my suggestion was if they want that then Kendrick feature or something similar is way to go.

Maybe I’ll be wrong in this but I feel like KD 3 won’t drop this year

Nas dropped 3 albums in 15 months which is unheard of for anyone especially Nas who always took his time in between albums.

I got a feeling it will drop early next year

17th June : "me and Dom Kennedy just dropped the hardest shyt of the year until KD3 drop"

So one month ago, the album was planned for 2022, I don't think it changed.
